Jimmy Carter died. President Carter was an unparalleled force for peace and justice. He did things and made decisions that made him unpopular at the time because they were based on conviction rather than political greed. He led with faith and heart. He was the only real Christian president, never flaunting his beliefs, only exhibiting his faith in action. He always believed that America could always be better. Even though his values weren’t valued in his time, history will remember him as a great, decent man who had the difficult task of leading a country with no heart or conscience during difficult times. Trump is the complete antitheses of Jimmy Carter. He accurately reflects America’s values — cruel, greedy, and dumb. Carter didn’t get elected a second term because Ronald Reagan better reflected the country’s true values — he was all for show, shallow, and selfish. Reagan fertilized the red carpet that Trump would walk 40 years later. Even though he was impeached twice, got away with an attempted coup, and is a convicted criminal, he gets two terms because Trump reflects America better than Democrats do and half of the country is still grappling with that.
