Mike Pompeo was a forgettable Congressman in Kansas who worked on Trump’s campaign in hopes that Trump would hire him in his administration if he got elected. He did. He made him head of the CIA. He didn’t disclose that he owned a business in China when he took that job but that ended up being a good thing. Not telling the truth was a prerequisite to working in the Trump administration. After a year, Trump moved him over to be his secretary of state after he fired Rex Tillerson.

Pompeo is a religious zealot. He really believes that Trump was sent by God to reunite Israel and bring on the Rapture. In fact, while he was on official business in Israel, he did an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network and said that God may have sent Trump to Earth to protect Israel like Queen Esther in the Bible. He felt like he was doing the Lord’s work by using his position as a government official to save the world. He was out and proud, an official spokesman of the Christian Nationalist State of America. He said his actions, views and remarks were significantly shaped by his belief that Jesus Christ is the savior. He made a speech at The Family Leader Summit in Iowa and said, “This administration appreciates and knows that our rights come from God, not government. Can I get an amen to that?”? At another event, he told the room, “We will continue to fight these battles until the Rapture.”

Mike Pompeo, like most people who served in Trump’s cabinet, was not properly vetted. He is a loud mouth bigot who goes after Muslims and LGBTQs publicly so he fits right in with today’s GOP.

He played a very big role in Trump’s attempt to extort Ukraine. He not only knew Rudy Giuliani tried to get President Zelensky to make up something scandalous about Joe Biden, he helped. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, was threatened and stalked in Ukraine because she knew what Rudy was up to. He not only didn’t have her back like he should have, but he was partly responsible for her getting fired. He had several phone calls with Rudy weeks before she was told to pack up and get out.

Mike Pompeo was on the call with Trump and Zelensky on July 25 and lied and said he wasn’t.

When Marie Yovanovitch testified before Congress about what led up to her being fired, Mike Pompeo was furious because he told her not to appear. She not only appeared, she testified what she knew about Pompeo, Rudy and Trump being involved in a quid pro quo to benefit Trump in the 2020 election.

Maria Yovanovitch was told that if she wanted to keep her job she better tweet out support and praise for Trump. Anonymous men told her to watch her back. When she asked her boss, Mike Pompeo, what was going on he told her he didn’t know and that he’d have to call Sean Hannity to find out.

In her testimony, she warned the congressional committee of a crisis in the State Department and expressed serious concerns about leadership. By not having her back, Mike Pompeo let the world know that the US was in sorry, sloppy shape. “Our Ukraine policy has been thrown into disarray and shady interests the world over have learned how little it takes to remove an American Ambassador who does not give them what they want.” She was a United States ambassador in a foreign country, and she was on her own. Mike Pompeo’s job was to have her back, literally. He didn’t stand up for her, Fiona Hill, or Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. Two of them lost their jobs because they were loyal to America and not Trump. All three of them have written books about their part in history.

Pompeo told EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland not to testify before Congress and like Maria Yovanovitch, he defied him. He told the committee that Pompeo knew what was going on and that Trump dictated the quid pro quo.

Top US diplomat, Bill Taylor testified that he was directed by Mike Pompeo and Trump to go to Ukraine. He’s an exemplary patriot and called Pompeo, Trump, John Bolton and Rudy Giuliani out for what they did and reminded everybody that Ukraine was under attack and that extortion of an ally at a moment of extreme vulnerability put untold lives at risk. Ukraine had suffered under Russia and really needed the United States’ help. One of his staff members heard Trump ask Gordon Sondland about the status of the investigations on July 26 and Sondland told him that they were “ready to move forward.” He told the committee, “Sondland said Trump wanted President Zelensky in a public box” and “the Russians would love to see the humiliation of President Zelensky at the hands of the Americans.”

Trump fired Inspector General Steve Linick after Mike Pompeo suggested it. They got back at him for looking into Pompeo for improperly asking an employee to serve as his personal assistant on government time. He was also fired because he shared documents with impeachment investigators in the Ukraine probe.

Mike Pompeo was served 3 subpoenas during the first impeachment inquiry and he ignored them all. He travelled with the Trump family and Bill Barr to meet 4 Russian oligarchs with Steve Bannon in Italy. He fired the career ambassador of Ukraine, met with world leaders to solicit their support in Trump’s take down of Biden, blew off Congress and refused to testify, and told his staff not to testify either. At the end of his term, he had to cancel his trip to Europe at the last minute because Luxembourg’s foreign minister and top European Union officials told him they didn’t want to meet with him. Luxembourg Foreign Minister Asselborn said, “Mister Trump is a criminal, a political pyromaniac who should be sent to criminal court. He’s a person who was elected democratically but who isn’t interested in democracy in the slightest.”

What’s Mike Pompeo doing today? People haven’t seen much of him these days. He lost 90 pounds and signed on to be a Fox News “contributor” because nobody else would hire him.
