Christian Nationalists in the House
Matt Gaetz dubbed the new speaker, Mike Johnson, “MAGA Mike.” The guy was an unknown until the MAGA Republicans unanimously gave him the Speaker job. They barely knew him. He’s untested and unvetted but they rallied around him anyway and prayed with him for the cameras, giving the country the message that they’re united as a Christian nationalist party. Republican Jesus is sitting in the Speaker’s chair so get used to it, America. MAGA Mike said, “Someone asked me today in the media, ‘People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.” When asked to comment about the mass shooting in Maine, he prayed. He has said in the past that mass shootings are a result of the cultural revolution of the 1960s. He blamed them on “no fault” divorces and schools embracing the teaching of evolution. He believes that the US is “a completely amoral society” and intends to save it by inviting Republican Jesus to work through him. He will save us.
If anything happens to Biden and Harris, Republican Jesus will become president and Christianity will be the law of the land, just like Islam is in many states in the Middle East.
The shooter in Maine is still out there and the whole state is terrified. People are still locked up in their homes. Businesses and 30 school districts are closed. Maine is a huge state that is mostly wilderness. With his military training, the shooter might not be found if he doesn’t want to be found.
The shooter exhibits all of the traits of the right wing quintessential good guy with a gun — he’s handsome, he’s white, he’s been in the military and is a firearms instructor, the perfect guy to save everybody if a guy like him shows up in a public place to shoot a bunch of people all at once.
The good guy with a gun and Republican Jesus will save us.
At a press conference yesterday, Senator Susan Collins defended herself and avoided questions about banning assault weapons. One of the state’s 2 reps, centrist Democrat and Marine Corps vet, Jared Golden, asked for forgiveness for being too lax on gun laws in the past. He regrets it and was visibly shaken when he called for a ban on assault weapons.
20 years ago, there were fewer than 200 million weapons. Today there are twice that amount — 400 million. 20 years ago, AR-15’s were less than 2% of all guns sold. Today they are over 25%. These guns are used for one thing and one thing only — to kill a lot of people all at once.
Who is going to save us?
An internal NRA audit shows that they’re running out of money and people. Membership has plummeted which means a huge loss of revenue. Membership dues are in decline. It’s good to know that the NRA has fewer gun nuts, but all it takes is one card carrying gun nut with an assault rifle, like the one in Maine, to kill a bunch of people really fast and cripple an entire state.
Hamas visited Moscow yesterday.
The US carried out airstrikes targeting two facilities linked to Iranian-backed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other affiliated militia groups in eastern Syria in retaliation for a series of drone and rocket attacks against US forces in the region. Different terrorist organizations are attacking the US as Iran backed Hamas and Hezbollah attack Israel.
A federal judge struck down Georgia’s Republican-drawn congressional and state legislative maps saying they violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting the power of Black voters. They have been ordered to be redrawn. That’s good news.
The statue of Robert E. Lee that was removed from Charlottesville in 2017 after white supremacists held a pro-Nazi “Unite the Right” rally and chantied “Jews will not replace us” which resulted in violence and death has been melted down and will be resurrected as a new piece of public art. That’s good news.
Now that the House is open for business, members are getting jiggy with their resolutions. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for the censuring of Palestinian-American Rashida Tlaib, New York Republicans put up a resolution to expel George Santos, and lesbian Democrat Becca Balint called out the new Speaker for trying to take away her rights and letting Marjorie Taylor Greene bring a resolution to the floor that’s riddled with lies. Then she called for her censure and read a long list of offenses she has committed that have been ignored by Republican leadership such as racism, antisemitism, LGBTQ hate speech, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, xenophobia, promoting conspiracy theories and white nationalist ideals, calling for violence against members of Congress, dismissing mass shootings as being fake, supporting the insurrection, and distributing pornographic images of a member of the president’s family. Marjorie Taylor Greene prays to the same god as the new Speaker does, Republican Jesus, and they’re going to do everything they can to make the entire country pray to Republic Jesus, too. That’s what Iran did in 1979 but they forced everybody to pray to their Islamic God. They hate the Jews and America and they’re using Palestinians as pawns so they can kill all the Jews in Israel and destroy America. They are gushing with pleasure to know that people all around the world are marching in the streets chanting, “Free Palestine.” Free Palestine to where? None of the Muslim countries in the Middle East will take them. They use them as pawns too.
