Bill Barr said that once the report was turned over to him, it was “his baby.” When cornered with his baby by the Democrats in the Senate Judiciary Committee, he fumbled and bumbled and revealed himself to be nothing more than the president’s defense attorney. Despite Chair Lindsey Graham’s best efforts to protect him for 5 hours, he blew it.
Lindsey Graham opened the hearing by ranting about Hillary Clinton for 15 minutes. He admitted twice that he hadn’t read the entire report. He was so disinterested and unprepared to chair the hearing that he didn’t think through quoting aloud, “TRUMP IS A FUCKING IDIOT” on live national television and how that could get played back, over and over and over again, with music, on social media. He blathered on about Hillary’s emails and read the Page/Strzok texts aloud (TRUMP IS A FUCKING IDIOT) at the top of a hearing that was supposed to be about Bill Barr.
Barr lost face. He said it wasn’t a crime to instruct your lawyer to lie. He said there is a difference between saying “fire Mueller” and “have Mueller removed.” He admitted that he hadn’t read the entire report. He blamed Mueller for the 4 week delay between receipt of report and release and said that Mueller didn’t identify the information that was to be redacted. He made Mueller out to be some sort of lowly staffer that worked for him. He shrugged the whole hearing off and encouraged everyone to just let the election in 18 months decide it all. He blamed the Obama Administration for not stopping Russian interference. It’s in the report that the Trump campaign enthusiastically welcomed Russian interference. Barr thinks that if the president feels a proceeding is unfounded that the president does not have to sit there constitutionally and allow it to run its course. The president could terminate the proceeding and it would not be a corrupt intent because he was being falsely accused. America’s top cop is dangerously corrupt.
Senator Kamala Harris got Barr to admit that he never reviewed the underlying evidence of the report before deciding the president would not be charged for obstruction. Kamala Harris has asked for his resignation.
Senator Richard Blumenthal asked for his notes that he took while talking to Mueller and he said, “NO.” Blumenthal asked, “Why not?” Barr replied, “Why should you have them?” Senator Blumenthal has asked for Barr’s resignation.
Senator Mazie Hirono ripped Barr a new one — “The American people now know that you are no different than Rudy Giuliani and Kellyanne Conway. People who have sacrificed their once decent reputations for a grifter and liar who sits in the Oval Office. You used every advantage of your office to make it seem like President Trump was cleared. You put the power of your office behind a public relations push for President Trump. You lied to Congress. You knew you lied and now we know.” Senator Hirono is demanding Barr’s resignation.
Lindsey Graham ripped Senator Hirono a new one for “slandering” Barr. He’s not going to call Robert Mueller to testify before his committee. Nope. Not gonna do it. “I’m not going to do any more. Enough already. It’s over.”
The attorney general and the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee are protecting the president. They are circumventing equal branches of government, paving the way to tyranny.
Barr was a no-show at the House Judiciary Committee meeting this morning. Chairman Jerry Nadler said, “He is trying to render congress inert as a separate and coequal branch of government.” Ranking member Congressman Doug Collins put on a show and blamed the Democrats for Barr not being there because they didn’t want him there.
“He’s as worthless a witness as he is an attorney general. Subpoena his sorry ass, hold him in contempt when he’s a no-show, but don’t waste time over him. Call Mueller, McGahn, people who haven’t sold their souls and can help the nation get to the truth.” — Laurence Tribe
