On day 2 of the senate trial, the House Democrat managers gave brilliant oral statements. The tone, the content, and the presentation was one for the history books and will be appreciated and studied for centuries. The Republican jurors could have cared less. They went out of their way to show disrespect by leaving the chambers to give interviews, checking their phones that they weren’t supposed to have with them, and sleeping in their seats. If ordinary citizens doing jury duty did that the judge would hold them in contempt of court. Justice Roberts just sat there.
Adam Schiff ended the day by telling the Republicans that if it weren’t for the bravery of a few civil servants who stood up to Trump and risked losing their jobs to tell the truth, they wouldn’t be there and nobody would know any of this. He called upon the Republicans to show the same bravery. If Trump tweets at you or you lose your job, so be it. You have to do the right thing.
Democrats got around the Republicans stonewalling by playing video of the witnesses testifying before the House Intelligence Committee, the same witnesses that the Republicans don’t want testifying in this trial. They showed tweets and taped confessions. They laid out the whole case and the witnesses testified anyway. Democrats are way smarter than Republicans. Republicans are way more ruthless.
A protester burst into the chamber yelling something about Jesus while Hakeem Jeffries was speaking. The guy got tackled by capitol police and was tossed out while screaming about abortion. Hakeem didn’t miss a beat and even threw a little scripture back at the guy. Kind of like how he threw a little shade at Jay Sekulow the day before after Sekulow asked, “why are we here?” Hakeem put him in his place by quoting a treasured former constituent, the Notorious B.I.G., born and raised in Brooklyn. “We are here, sir, because President Trump corruptly abused his power and then he tried to cover it up. That is why we are here Mr. Sekulow. And if you don’t know, now you know.”
All the 52 corrupt white traitors with the power to end the great American experiment and the one black one who identifies as white looked at each other and said,“WUT?”
Lindsey Graham was absent most of the time during yesterday’s evidence presentation because the impeachment is a “lynching.” His voice trembled when he told the press that he was there to defend the president because the Democrats are on a crusade to destroy him. “I’m covering up nothing, I’m exposing your hatred of the president! Nobody would be saying the same thing about a Democratic president if a Republican had done this!”
Um, Trump and the Republicans went after Clinton for lying about getting a blow job from someone who wasn’t his wife (who the Republicans hate with a fury) like flies on shit. Lindsey Graham was one of them.
Republican hypocrite fun fact: Lindsey Graham went on Fox News and told their gullible viewers that Trump’s biggest concern is with the sanctity of the office of the presidency. “The one thing he talks to me constantly about is, what does the next president do after this if this is successful?”
Lindsey Graham is either in love with Trump or Trump has something on him that is really, really bad. Nobody defends Trump this way unless they’re being paid or bribed.
Meanwhile, Trump was making speeches and giving interviews at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. He said he’s not worried about the trial because the White House has the evidence. “Honestly, we have all the material. They don’t have the material.”
Trump confessed to obstructing justice again. He also said that he’d like to sit in on the trial so Rand Paul invited him. They need to go for more spectacle because blatantly getting up and leaving, snoring, and tweeting during the trial isn’t disrespectful and disruptive enough.
Also at the World Economic Forum, Trump said we had to protect our geniuses. He said about Elon Musk, “He’s also doing the rockets. He likes rockets, and he does good at rockets, by the way.” Then the very sable genius said, “We have to protect all of these people that came up with, originally, the light bulb and the wheel and all of these things.”
Trump thinks America invented the wheel.
When asked to comment on the 11 US service members who were injured after the Iranians retaliated for the Solemaini strike, Trump said he heard that they had “headaches” which isn’t like losing a limb or anything.
Brain injuries don’t count. The 11 US service members don’t count.
He’s losing it this morning, playing the Republican classics to get the base worked up — caravans at the border and abortion (see you at the March for Life rally on Friday!) He’s retweeting psychos and criminals in Congress, quoting Rush Limbaugh and Fox and Friends, and tweeting out incoherent originals that will be archived in his presidential liebrary one day.
