Rolling Stone broke a huge story last night. Two pissed off MAGA cult members have come out of denial and broken with the pack to spill the beans on members of Congress and their staffs by telling who was involved in the planning of the attack on the Capitol on January 6. They say they attended dozens of planning meetings with Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, and Louie Gohmert. White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was intimately involved. The White House was headquarters for the insurrection. Paul Gosar promised everybody who attended the meetings that Trump would pardon them if they got arrested.
Jeffrey Clark, the DOJ official who was loyal to Trump and almost became attorney general right before the attack so he could use the DOJ to over turn the election, is testifying in front of the Select Committee at the end of this week.
Mike Pence’s brother, a sitting member of Congress, abstained from voting on whether to refer Steve Bannon, the mastermind of the insurrection which resulted in the mob calling for the death of his brother, for prosecution. His own brother. Republicans or so corrupt and evil they don’t even have any loyalty to their own family members. Their only loyalty is to Trump and the Republican party.
Rudy Giuliani’s mobster pal, Lev Parnas, one of the guys who got picked up by the feds right as he was about to board a plane headed for Vienna to escape prosecution for helping Russian oligarchs funnel money into Trump’s campaign and several other Republican campaigns, has been found guilty on all 6 counts of campaign finance crimes. He’s got another trial coming up, too, which could amount to more prison time. And when Rudy is arrested and tried, he could get even more time for helping Rudy extort Ukraine on behalf of Trump. He could spend the rest of his life in jail.
Actor Alec Baldwin, famous for making fun of Trump on Saturday Night Live, accidentally shot 2 people with a prop gun on a movie set in New Mexico. One died. Baldwin not only starred in the movie, he was one of the producers. Watch Congress rush to make stricter laws for fake guns.
JD Vance, the Trumplican running against Democratic congressman Tim Ryan for US Senate in Ohio, put out a tweet asking Twitter to let Trump back on so we can be entertained by his Alec Baldwin tweets. Tim Ryan answered him on Twitter: Someone died, you asshole.
Gun nut congresswoman Lauren Boebert retweeted one of Alec Baldwin’s tweets from 2014 (“I’m going to make bright, banana yellow t-shirts that read ‘My hands are up. Please don’t shoot me.;” Who wants one?”) with this comment: Are these still available? Asking for a movie producer…
Trump’s tacky son Junior is selling t-shirts that read, “Guns don’t kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people.” He photo shopped a photo of Baldwin wearing the shirt.
Hours before the fatal shooting, several camera crew members walked off of the set in protest of unsafe and unfair working conditions. Nonunion members had been called in to take their places. The prop master was very young and inexperienced. She handed Baldwin a loaded weapon.
There are labor strikes going on all across the country. IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) is poised to go on strike for better working conditions so that people don’t end up getting killed at work.
Republicans have always been against workers unions. It’s the Democrats who have always stood with the working man and woman. Every single law protecting employees was enacted by Democrats, brought on by unions who pushed against greedy capitalists and then pushed legislators to make laws. Workers in every industry have had it with greedy capitalist bosses. We have been here before in America. We’re at another breaking point. If it weren’t for the striking workers who have historically gotten their skulls bashed in and killed by the cops, there’d be no middle class, an 8 hour work day with safety protocols, weekends, paid leave, or public school.
Part of dealing with the aftermath of Trump and the out of control Republican party is improving the lives of workers in Biden’s Build Back Better infrastructure bill. All of the new jobs that will be created to fix our roads and bridges will be high paying union jobs. There will be help with childcare so parents can work and not give half of what they earn to daycare. The media isn’t reporting what’s in the bill. They’re just interested in how much it’s going to cost and who’s fighting who.
Democrats are ending childhood poverty. They have already cut it in half by making sure that parents receive hundreds of dollars every month per child to help with food, rent, medical visits, clothes and childcare. The public isn’t totally aware of this because the Democrats don’t brag about it and the media doesn’t report it.
If the Republicans are successful in gobbling up more power by any means necessary, what will be left is a ruling class (a handful of filthy rich people who hold all of the wealth, not just in the country, but in the world) and everybody else. That’s not a democracy.
Republican legislatures are writing laws in all 50 states that will give them the power to overturn elections and give all the wins to Republicans.
Trump could run again and he could win.
The most important issue we’re facing today is saving democracy. Autocracy can only be beat at the polls.
