For More Years

More than 180,000 people have died from the Trump Plague but you wouldn’t know it watching the TNC last night on the White House lawn where 1500 were seated, NOT 6 feet apart and NOT wearing masks. There was one white folding chair for every person who died in America yesterday from an infectious disease that Trump made worse. The message was “What plague?” A fuck you to everybody who has been doing their part to slow the spread of a deadly disease. In your face, America. This is Trump’s house. This is Trump’s government. This is Trump’s convention. This is Trump’s country. After he rambled on for 70 unbearable minutes, fireworks spelled out “TRUMP” above his head. It was tacky. It was ridiculous. It was audacious. It was illegal. It was embarrassing. It was Trump.

The People’s House was used as a political backdrop for the reality TV show, “Kegger on the South Lawn,” in which an impeached president uses his power to put on a pageant celebrating the maintaining of Trump family power forever. Four years of a lawless administration and a complicit Republican party have brought us to where we are today — sitting through a super spreader MAGA rally at the White House. People will die for turning out for him. Herman Cain did. Who’s next? How many won’t be alive to vote on voting day because they were there?

182,000 dead. 55,000,000 unemployed.

Eric Trump went on Fox and said all the Democrats want to do is talk about covid. Covid, covid, covid! God! Get a life!

White supremacists are dumb. They think and say we have to vote for Trump because he’s the only one who can fix the mess he created. In Ivanka’s speech she said, “The results speak for themselves.”

“We live in a society where we can’t have weddings, we can’t have funerals, we can’t go to the movies or enjoy simple pleasures or major milestones. 200,000 people are DEAD because of their utter incompetence and these criminal fucks are having a party on the White House lawn.” — Mikel Jollett

“Get off our lawn.” — Amy Klobuchar

Trump didn’t mention Jacob Blake in his acceptance speech. He only referenced Kenosha once as being one of the several “Democrat run cities” overrun with violence.

When he was asked about Jacob Blake earlier in the day Trump kicked everybody out of the room.

Jacob Blake is handcuffed to his hospital bed. He’s paralyzed and is not under arrest. He’s just black.

When reporters asked Trump to comment about the NBA protesting the Jacob Blake shooting he said, “I think people are tired of the NBA, frankly.” He called the NBA a political organization with very bad ratings.

The TNC is finally over and now we must recover from the Hatch Act hangover. It used to be that incumbents wouldn’t dare use a fax machine inside the White House for campaign business. Today Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows says nobody cares about the Hatch Act except inside the beltway. They’ll do whatever they want. This is their house. It’s their fax machine.

“I was struck by the misuse of the White House. They surrounded themselves with the trappings of the power that, in theory, they were given by the American people. They are not monarchs. This is not their property. This is not an episode of ‘Cribs.’” — Joy Reid

The take away from their convention is that if you don’t vote for Trump there will be 4 more years of Trump.

67 days until we get to vote.
