Gas Stoves and Hate Groups
Mark Meadows, Trump’s former Chief of Staff who was at the center of Trump’s plan to overthrow the government, has flipped. He has testified before the grand jury. The 30 or so people he was texting back and forth with prior to January 6 are in deep shit — folks like Republican members of Congress, Ginny Thomas, Trump’s attorneys, Trump’s family, etc. He was running the operation out of the Oval Office for a couple of months.
Jim Jordan has demanded that the DOJ show him what they have on Trump. MAGA Republicans are going after the FBI because the FBI is investigating their guy and if they prosecute their guy then the FBI will come for them too.
While the DOJ is busy investigating them for trying to overthrow the United States government from within, ten members of the sedition caucus blocked their own bill about made up gas stove regulations in order to spite Kevin McCarthy for not tanking the US economy over the debt ceiling bill. They voted against a rule to set a floor debate on a bill to prohibit the federal government from banning gas stoves.
There was never a woke ban on gas stoves. The 206–220 vote was the first time the House rejected a rule in 21 years. Repugs burned themselves on their own stupid ass gas stove bill.
A judge told George Santos he can’t keep the names of the people who bailed him out of jail a secret. We should know by Friday who owns him.
Chris Christie has thrown his MAGA hat into the presidential race ring. At his first campaign even last night he came out gunning for Trump and his family. He said, “Jared Kushner and Ivanka Kushner walked out of the White House and months later get $2 billion from the Saudis. You think it’s because he’s some kind of investing genius? Or do you think it’s because he was sitting next to the POTUS for 4 years doing favors for the Saudis?”
While DeSantis is out campaigning for president, his state is going to shit because of the racist law that is going into effect next month that makes being undocumented a crime. There have been protests in the streets all across the state but the media isn’t reporting it. So many immigrants have left the state in search of other jobs that crops are rotting on the vine and construction sites are sitting empty and quiet. Tourism is down 40% because people are boycotting Florida. Hotels have lost hospitality staff. It only took immigrants a few weeks to shut down Florida. They may not have power with their vote but they do hold a lot of power with their labor.
Rapes, violent crime, and drug sales haven’t gone down as a result of immigrants migrating north. All they want to do is work. That’s why they come here. They just want to work and they’re willing to do any work that white people refuse to do. They didn’t take any jobs away from Americans. That’s about as true as there being a federal ban on gas stoves.
Republicans in Florida say they were only joking about making it illegal to be an immigrant. Come back!
Moms for Liberty, a Florida based organization that is responsible for taking over school boards to force their white supremist agenda onto all students in public schools, has been named one of 12 extremist groups added to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s annual “Year in Hate and Extremism” report.
The Human Rights Campaign has declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ people living in the US. It’s the first time the organization has made such a warning in its 40 year history. They released a handbook with resources to help LGBTQs know and exercise their rights and how to be safe. The handbook lists the different laws and what their rights are in different states, how to finance a move to a safer state, how to access health care, how to find employment, how to file complaints using civil rights laws, and how to fight groups like Moms for Liberty.
Last night far right hate groups showed up at a school board meeting in California and attacked a group of parents who were there in support of LGBTQ kids. The school board has been compliant with California’s FAIR Education Act, which was signed into law on July 14, 2011, and went into effect on January 1, 2012 that amends the California Education Code to include the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive and Respectful reference to contributions by people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ community in history and social studies curriculum. Protesters accused the board of indoctrinating kids and demanded that they break the law. They tried to break the jaws of anybody who was there in support of the school board and LGBTQ kids. The cops made it worse. A clergy member holding a Pride flag in solidarity with Pride Month got pepper sprayed.
