Good Days Bad Days
It was a good day for people who aren’t white in America. The COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act passed in a 94–1 vote. Josh Hawley was the only senator to vote against it. 5 Republicans didn’t vote. He needed to find a way to get people talking about him again and he found it by sticking it to the AAPI community.
It was a good day for the fate of the planet. President Biden committed the US to cutting emissions in half by 2030 during a virtual climate summit with 40 world leaders.
It was a good day for the tax payers of Washington DC. The House passed DC joining the union as the 51st state. Now on to the Senate where the racists will shoot it down like black people minding their own business walking down the street.
It was a terrible day for kids who screw up really badly. The Supreme Court’s conservative justices, led by Brett Kavanaugh, the guy who used to rub his dick in girls’ faces at parties in high school and tried to rape one with his buddies, gave juveniles life without parole by blowing up his predecessor Anthony Kennedy’s legacy of protecting the constitutional rights of children.

It was a bad day for Jewish Republicans in Virginia. The Virginia GOP wouldn’t make any exceptions for religious Jews who can’t travel on Shabbat to participate in its convention. There were 38 votes in favor of religious exemption, 28 against, and 3 abstentions. The motion needed 75% in favor to pass. Religious freedom only applies to Christians in the Republiqan party, the one true Republiqan religion.
It was a bad day for the filibuster. Nearly 100 House Democrats signed onto a letter urging the Senate to end it. Lindsey Graham is freaking the fuck out. He voted with Mitch McConnell to change the filibuster twice to help Trump and he’s scared to death that they won’t be able to use it to keep the Democrats from passing anything in the Senate. He actually stood next to Ted Cruz and dingbat Marsha Blackburn and publicly thanked Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin for sticking with the Republicans and refusing to do for Joe Biden what he and Mitch McConnell did for Trump who will go down in history for being a monster that divided a nation, destroyed every institution of government, disparaged the office of the presidency, and killed his own people.
It was a bad day for the Arizona governor who put a press conference together at the border to call upon the federal government to help him keep the immigrants from pouring in. There wasn’t an immigrant in sight. There wasn’t even any evidence of life in sight. Just an empty road, wide open land and a couple of guys on assignment with a racist Republican politician trying to rev up “immigrants are the problem” racist hysteria.
It was a bad day for 3 Wisconsin middle school teachers who ended up resigning after they put together a lesson for sixth graders asking them how they would punish slaves.
It was a bad day for justice seekers in Florida. DeSantis signed a new law that makes the vandalism of a confederate a serious crime that could get you 15 years in jail, the same amount of time a rapist would get. Also, the new anti protester law lets people drive their car into a crowd with immunity.
It was a bad day for cops when a video went viral of a guy named Dave Grossman who does seminars for the police and wanna be cops like George Zimmerman of him glorifying violence, power, intimidation and murder. He told the all male audience that they’ll have the best sex of their life after they kill someone. He’s been doing this for nearly 30 years.
It was a bad day for the Karens of Texas after Kara Bell, a self proclaimed “woman of God” who also happens to be running for school board, got arrested after making a big scene at a store after refusing to wear a mask. She struck an employee and then locked herself in a dressing room where she called the corporate office to complain. The cops came and dragged her out of the dressing room. She said this is her land as much as it is anybody else’s, that she’s tired of being bullied, and black people and “racism” are to blame for everything. She’s being threatened because she’s white! The cops got sick of her shit and finally cuffed her and eventually cited her for assault. Since this is Texas this may be the thing that wins her the election.
It was a bad day for the MAGA militia. 100 more are going to be arrested for trying to take over the government on January 6. 400 agents are working on the insurrection case — the largest investigation in US history.
Today is a historical day. It was a year ago today that the president of the United States told the country in an official press briefing to drink or inject bleach to get rid of the coronavirus.
