He Did It. So What?

He Did It. So What? That’s Trump’s defense. His legal team made the case that as president, Trump can pretty much do whatever he wants. They also said that there is nothing wrong with candidates soliciting dirt on opponents from foreign countries. It’s perfectly fine. Alan Dershowitz argued that it’s OK for a president to shoot someone on Fifth Avenue if he can prove it’s good for the country. Jay Sekulow threatened Democrats with calling Adam Schiff, the whistleblower and the Bidens to testify if they get their way with witnesses. Chief Justice Roberts just sat there. He’d read a question and then just sit there. He doesn’t want to get involved in politics.

70% of Americans want a fair trial. They want evidence and witnesses. The Republicans don’t give a shit what the people think and more and more people are finally waking up to that.

The fix is in. The Republicans are bored and want to wrap it up before Super Bowl and the State of the Union address.

“I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t born in America to be ruled by a Mad King, no matter what the White House counsel thinks.” — Steven Beschloss

“Given yesterday’s arguments by Trump’s lawyers, it’s now clear they believe presidential lawlessness is not impeachable, is appropriate & is actually in the public interest. If McConnell orchestrates a ‘no witnesses’ vote it will prove he has concluded that lawlessness works.” — Glenn Kirschner

“The GOP is now the pro-totalitarian party. It is a clear and present danger” — Jennifer Rubin

Thousands of protesters showed up at the Capitol holding a 60’ banner with Article II from the Constitution printed on it. They demanded witnesses. Some got arrested. Republicans ignored them.

While the trial formalities were taking place, Trump signed some trade deal hoping to get all kinds of media attention and accolades. He didn’t. He dropped names on camera of Republican senators who he expected loyalty from as he was signing, “Maybe I’m being just nice to them because I want their vote, does that make sense? I don’t want to leave anybody out.”

Lev Parnas showed up and went from office to office accompanied by the media to tell Republicans that your guy is guilty as fuck. When a reporter asked, “Should Lindsey Graham be worried?” Lev replied,” we are going to talk about that in a little bit.” He did. He went on CNN later in the day to say Lindsey was in the loop.

We’ve got Devin Nunes on the House side, minority leader of the Intelligence Committee, leaking info to Trump. Then we’ve got Lindsey Graham on the Senate side, chair of the Judiciary Committee, golfing with Trump. They’re in the loop.

Then there is Attorney General Bill Barr in the Justice Department, serving as Trump’s personal attorney and Mike Pompeo as Trump’s head of state. They’re in the loop. And don’t forget Mike Pence. He’s always lurking and smiling, ready to be crowned king at a moment’s notice. They’re all in the loop. The Four Treasons.

Checks and balances aren’t working. All three branches of our government are corrupt. Putin has us right where he wants us.

Russian state media is calling Trump a Moscow agent and joking about him needing to flee the country after leaving office.

On the lighter side, Trump’s monument to himself blew over in the wind at the border. His wall fell down.

“Nobody builds walls better than me. Believe me.” — Donald Trump 2016

“This is the only thing with Trump’s name on it that couldn’t dodge a draft” — The Daily Show

It’s not good. The Republicans will vote to block witnesses and then vote to acquit, crowning Trump king. This is the worst outcome for the Constitution and the country in the short term, but it’s good in the long term. More is coming out and when the public is brought into the loop and learns just how corrupt Trump and the Republicans are, it will be all over. Trump will turn on the Republicans and the GOP will be exposed and left for dead. Good riddance.

On one side we have the House Managers establishing that Trump abused his power to manipulate a foreign government in order to win an election, and on the other side we have crooks making the case that such an abuse of power is not impeachable.

He Did It. So What?

The fix is in.
