Keeping Secrets
There was a protest outside of the Supreme Court about abortion rights and 16 members of Congress were arrested. The Squad was among them; Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez put their bodies on the line to defend ours. No Republicans were anywhere in sight.
The highest court in the land is still blocked off from the people in a free, democratic society because radical Christian Republicans have taken possession of it. The fencing has been up since the Catholic Cult Court announced they had reversed Roe v Wade. Next up on the chopping block: Gay marriage. It’s no secret that the Supreme is coming for gay marriage next. Clarence Thomas said as much when he gave his opinion after taking away a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion.
In anticipation of the Court’s next draconian move, the House passed a bill to codify gay marriage. It passed 267 to 157. All Democrats voted in favor. 157 Republicans– 77% of the caucus– voted no. 47 Republicans joined the Democrats to vote yes on the measure. 7 did not vote. House minority leader Kevin McCarthy voted no.
The fight about LGBTQ rights in Congress is one side wants to make laws that discriminate based upon their own personal and religious beliefs and the other side wants to enact laws to protect ALL Americans regardless of whether or not the other side “approves.”
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is the first openly gay cabinet member in history. If the Supreme Court overturns gay marriage, he and his husband, Chasten, will lose all rights that straight married couples and parents are entitled to. Their twin babies aren’t even a year old yet.
A Republican Congressman asked Pete Buttigieg if he has considered invoking the 25th Amendment against Biden for tripping while riding a bicycle. Pete came up with a really a good comeback for the wise ass Republican — “I’m glad to have a president who can ride a bicycle.”
Republican hypocrite fun fact: Former anti-LGBTQ Republican Ohio state legislator helped ring in the Trump era by literally getting caught with his pants down, having sex with a man in his state office right after Trump was elected in 2016. He’d only been on the job for a year. Prior to that, he worked for Congressman Jim Jordan, the jerk off Republican infamous for looking the other way when the university doctor at Ohio State molested athletes in the gym shower when he worked there as a wrestling coach. 33 year old Wes Goodman resigned amidst a gay sex scandal that included 30 accusations of sexual misconduct for sending young men pornographic messages and pictures of his wiener on Snapchat. Wes Goodman was a “family values” branded politician, married to the assistant director of the annual abortion rally, March for Life. He defined “natural marriage” as being between a man and a woman. His campaign website read, “Healthy, vibrant, thriving, values-driven families are the source of Ohio’s proud history and the key to Ohio’s future greatness.” It’s always the Republicans getting caught with their pants down while legislating what people do with their pants down.
Being a Republican is a choice. Being gay is not.
Speaking of secrets, the Secret Service has lots of them. They deleted all of their texts from the day of and the day before the coup. The Select Committee wants to know what’s going on. This can only mean one thing — the Secret Service was in on it. They can’t lose texts unless they really mean to. Whenever a law enforcement agency needs to recover texts they go to the Secret Service cyber lab for forensic analysis because they are the best around. They have the means to be able to retrieve their own deleted texts. If they say they’re gone then they made sure of it which means that whatever was deleted is worse than we can imagine.
To learn more about the Secret Service’s involvement in the coup, tune into the 7th televised hearing by the Select Committee tomorrow night during prime time. Everywhere but Fox. The coup is still a secret over there and Trump is still president.
