Los Angeles: The Spectacle
ICE is expected to be in L.A. for 30 days. Los Angeles wasn’t invaded by aliens. The feds didn’t respond to any crisis, this was all part of Trump’s plan to have the federal government seize control of and punish blue states and cities. He signed off on 2,000 National Guard to show up and 300 are there already (he says the deployment is necessary to combat “lawlessness that has been allowed to fester” in LA.) They’re not necessary. They’re not welcome. They’re not even legal. The governor is supposed to call in the National Guard when there is a crisis but Trump went over his head and called them in, and directed all federal agencies to “liberate L.A. from migrant invasion. Order will be restored and illegals will be expelled and L.A. will be set free!” He directed Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, and Pam Bondi to take any and all necessary actions to get the invasion under control. Invasion. INVASION!
Trump wouldn’t call in the National Guard on January 6 when the Capitol was under literal attack but he called them in for a publicity stunt and to open the gates for him to invoke the Insurrection Act and declare martial law so he can keep people from protesting him next week when he throws a military parade for himself. There are over 1,600 planned protests for June 14 for a nation-wide “No Kings” protest.
The White House is referring to Trump as “king” on the White House website.
What happened over the weekend was two rather small protests had converged on one another. The first started at the metropolitan detention center where detainees were being kept and the other was at City Hall, the place that regularly sees protests of all kinds. L.A. Is used to it. The Los Angeles Police Department had it all under control. After the chaos and trauma was over, about 50 people were detained, undoubtedly none of them with criminal records (immigrants commit crimes at 25% the national average and do the jobs that white people don’t want to do but they’re brown so they’ve got to go). Among them was a pregnant woman, married mother of six, a grandfather, and a couple of dishwashers. ICE used military style vehicles and weapons to apprehend docile targets. Blackhawk helicopters circled the protests, one delivered ammunition and weapons to the federal center. They brought MRAPs which are ambush protected military vehicles that were used in Iraq and Afghanistan. All of that to chase down a few dozen gardeners. This is a travesty. A spectacle that is ruining the lives of thousands of families and for what?
Fox News got chased off because they were falsely reporting that people were trying to break into the federal building which fits Trump’s narrative. Trumped learned during his first term that if anybody attacks federal property they can counter attack so all they had to do was get somebody to spray paint on the side of the building and voilá, an invasion!
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a tactical alert as tensions escalated between authorities and protesters. People got sprayed with some sort of irritant and some were detained indiscriminatingly and stored in the basement of the federal building without adequate food and water. Members of Congress showed up to do their due diligence and inspect what was going on but they were denied entry. Several driverless cars got torched. Trump got his money shot. Burning cars. All of the news stations show that instead of panning out and showing two small incidents overwhelmed by a weaponized government. Cops shot at crowds that weren’t even there.
When protesters walked out onto the nearby 101 freeway, motorists stopped and cheered (they’re usually annoyed when this happens but not this time). Some took out flags they had in their cars of their home countries and flew them with pride. Motorists honked, cheered and got out of their cars to join the protesters. Angelenos love L.A. Everybody is a foreigner in L.A. People move there from all over the place to find themselves. It’s a beautifully flawed, model city.
Trump accused the L.A. protesters of being paid insurrectionists and made a new rule that nobody can wear masks during a protest except for ICE.
The city of Glendale, part of Los Angeles, terminated its contract with ICE. It said that safety, transparency and community trust trumped ICE. Glendale first, Trump last. They want to preserve their reputation for being one of the safest cities in the nation so they ripped up their contract to hold detainees for Trump.
The founder of Latinas for Trump, Ileana Garcia, denounced Trump for siccing the feds on immigrants.
Trump declared “Victory!” for the National Guard before they even arrived in L.A. He congratulated them on a job well done on Truth Social in the middle of the night.
Governor Gavin Newsom told Trump to rescind his order but to no avail. Days earlier Trump picked a fight with him and threatened to cut California off from federal funding and Newsom said fine, you do that and we won’t pay any federal taxes. California pays $80 billion more than they get back so now maybe it’s time to hold on to it.
Border czar Tom Homan wants to arrest Gavin Newsom. Newsom said, “Bring it” in a very rare but much needed alpha fashion.
Trump said, “We’re going to have troops everywhere……they spit, we hit.”
Newsom said, “This is exactly what Donald Trump wanted. He flamed the fires and illegally acted to federalize the National Guard. The order he signed doesn’t just apply to California. It will allow him to go into ANY STATE and do the same thing.”

L.A. didn’t survive fire to be taken down by ICE.
