The sheriff in Bexar County, San Antonio has opened a criminal investigation into Ron DeSantis’ human trafficking operation. He is working with victims’ attorneys and various advocacy organizations and is prepared to work with the DOJ as well.
The trafficking victims were given a fake brochure promising them 8 months of cash assistance, food, job training/placement, and housing to entice them to get on the plane, and then were abandoned in a strange place with no one there to direct them.
A group of attorneys have also asked state and federal authorities to investigate and are considering filing a civil lawsuit against Florida.
The Republican Party’s top two contenders for president in 2024, Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, are now under criminal investigation.
While most of Floridians and Americans are horrified by what DeSantis has done, MAGA Republicans and white supremacists love it. He is not paying a price politically for committing kidnapping and human trafficking crimes. In fact, he planned a second dump for this morning with more migrants from San Antonio who were supposed to land at the Crestview Airport, another private airport 35 miles directly north of Destin where the fist plane flew out of (both airports are in Matt Gaetz’s district). This plane was supposed to go to Delaware where the migrants were to be dumped outside of Joe Biden’s house.
Matt Gaetz’s former law firm is the registered agent for Vertol Systems, the company that owns the jets that transported the migrants (DeSantis paid them $615,000 for the first trip and $950,000 for the second trip using COVID funds and money in his $12 million budget to deport immigrants). Larry Keefe is a former law partner at Keefe, Anchors & Gordon. He was Matt Gaetz’s boss for 10 years. He is now Ron DeSantis’ “Public safety czar.” Before that he was a Trump pick for US attorney in the northern district of Florida (Matt Gaetz’s district — he helped him get the job). Biden gave him the boot along with 90 other Trump US attorneys soon after he took office. Then DeSantis hired him a year ago to fight Biden’s “catch and release” policy (a derogatory phrase that implies that all immigrants are criminals who sneak back into the country after being kicked out). Vertol Systems profited from state sanctioned human trafficking. Did Larry Keefe?
Matt Gaetz also knows the owner of the aviation company, Jay Odom. He’s a real estate developer in the panhandle who started out with nothing. He built a medical marijuana plant but swears he’s never used it. He was sentenced to six months in federal prison after pleading guilty to breaking federal election campaign limits. He reimbursed employees for donating to Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign. He was a Republican fundraiser. The Jay Odom Group built Destin Jet, a 5,500 square-foot facility with 10 hangars for private jets at Destin Airport. Vertol is one of his tenants.

Matt Gaetz was the only NO vote on legislation to help combat human trafficking.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott bussed another group of 50 migrants, mostly Venezuelan, including a one month old baby, to Vice President Kamala Harris’ house.
Abbott and DeSantis are trying to outdo Trump’s illegal immigrant caravans lie that he always enacted before elections to dominate Fox News coverage and get racists worked up enough to show up to vote for Republicans. Nonstop coverage of the caravans barreling towards the border then stopped after the election. The Abbott/DeSantis scheme is even more diabolical. They are “deporting” dangerous, filthy illegal animals to sanctuary cities before the midterm. Now they have blood on their hands. An asylum seeker from Colombia living in a shelter in New York committed suicide. She and her two kids had been dumped in New York with fake paperwork and a bad address a few months ago. Her oldest child found her.
Insurrectionist activists from the 1776 Restoration Movement flooded the VA Suicide Prevention Line to demand that the “patriots” who were in jail for attacking the Capitol be released. 20 vets a day commit suicide. It’s very likely that this stunt meant someone died because they couldn’t get through to the crisis line at their most desperate.
