Make Room for Johnny
The manuscript for John Bolton’s book, “The Room Where it Happened,” which won’t be available for sale until March, leaked last night, one day before Amazon started taking preorders. In it he says that after Trump’s call with Zelensky, he went to Bill Barr with his concerns about Rudy Giuliani pursuing a shadow Ukraine policy encouraged by Trump and to let him know that Trump mentioned him on the Zelensky call. Then Bill Barr lied and said he knew nothing about the call. He also says Trump told him in August that he wanted to continue freezing aid to Ukraine until he got what he wanted with investigations into Biden, and there’s a part where Mike Pompeo told him last spring that Giuliani’s claims about Marie Yovanovitch were baseless and she never talked trash about Trump.
Removing Trump should be a cake walk but it won’t be. Republicans won’t walk that plank.
The leak of Bolton’s manuscript really freaked Trump out. He was up in his room in the middle of the night, tweeting: The Democrat controlled House never even asked John Bolton to testify. It is up to them, not up to the Senate!
Um, the House did ask Bolton to testify on November 7 but the White House directed him not to appear, citing executive privilege. There is plenty of room for executive privilege in the Trump White (man) House.
Trump tweeted that John Bolton is a liar and is just trying to sell a book. How convenient for the Republicans. Now they can point to Bolton as an opportunist who is cashing in on impeachment instead of admitting the real truth which is if they agree to him testifying, that would “open the floodgates” for more witnesses which could fill the room. They don’t want that. The Republicans all know that Trump put the screws to Ukraine to rig the 2020 election. John Bolton is just the latest witness to confirm it. Clear the room. Get outta here. It doesn’t matter. We don’t care. Where’s the cake? We were told there would be cake!
John Bolton is the third direct witness to confirm that Trump used military aid to bribe Ukraine. Mick Mulvaney admitted it during a press conference, Gordon Sondland testified under oath, and John Bolton wrote a book.

Trump says if Bolton testifies he could embarrass Trump. He tweeted: What happens if he reveals what I think about a certain leader and it’s not very positive?
Trump embarrasses himself all the time by saying and tweeting insulting things about just about every world leader eventually. They can’t stand being in the same room with the guy. Nobody will sit by him. They all hate him.
Today is the second day for Trump’s legal team to present their side of the story. This will be awkward. On Saturday, White House counsel Mike Purpura argued that there is no proof that Trump put the screws to Ukraine by withholding aid. John Bolton’s manuscript screws that up for them now.
White House counsel Pat Cipollone has known about the contents of the Bolton manuscript for awhile. He knew about the quid pro quo when he argued on Trump’s behalf on the Senate floor on Saturday. He lied.
Pat Cipollone is both a material witness and the head of Trump’s impeachment trial team. Jail is really going to suck for him. There aren’t any rooms with a view.
Since the House managers wrapped up their opening arguments on Friday, the Lev Parnas video broke of a dinner with Trump where he says “take her out” about Marie Yovanovitch, Trump threatened a sitting member of Congress with “he has yet to paid the price yet….” and Bolton’s manuscript leaked. All within 60 hours. Make room for more outlandish, off the wall, ridiculous and unbelievable bullshit that will pass as truth.
Republicans say, “Piece of cake.”
If the Republicans refuse to call witnesses then we’ll all know they’re in on the cover up. They’ll never come out of the Green Room. No press allowed.
Somebody started a GoFundMe to raise money to deliver sheet cakes to every Republican senator’s room in the capitol with a passage from John Bolton’s book written in frosting on the top. They made their fundraising goal. Have some cake!
All of the characters in Johnny’s book are all white men. None of them need a room of their own because they own the room.
Let them eat cake.
