Some of the tiki torch, khaki pants “very fine people” Unite the Right white supremacists who were responsible for getting people seriously hurt and killed during their riot in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017 are finally on trial. 9 of the people who were injured are suing the organizers in civil court. Some of the defendants have lost all legal representation because they either can’t afford them or they won’t take their advice. Since it’s a civil case, the state won’t provide them with public defenders so they’ll have to represent themselves. Christopher Cantwell (the “Crying Nazi”) made an abominable first impression when he showed to court up wearing just a shirt and no tie or jacket, and dropped the “n” word, referenced Hitler’s Mien Kampf, plugged his pro Nazi radio program, bragged about his good looks, and bashed anti-fascists. Cantwell is a huge fan of Tucker Carlson.
The election for governor in Virginia is tomorrow. Obama and Biden have campaigned in the state for the Democrat, Terry McAuliffe who has prior experience as governor. Trump endorsed Trumplican businessman candidate and political outsider Glenn Youngkin but has only threatened to show up in Virginia. The Lincoln Project went a little too far by disguising protesters in white shirts and khakis holding tiki torches outside of Youngkin’s campaign bus in Charlottesville. It was obvious that they weren’t for real given that their khakis and shirts were mismatched and wrinkled and everybody wasn’t white and male. Nor were any of the caps they were wearing red. People with a twisted sense of humor who don’t live in Charlottesville got a chuckle out of it but traumatized people who live in Charlottesville did not. Satire backfire. It happens.
Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger is not going to run for re-election. His district has been redrawn and he would have to run against a Trumplican so he’s out. He’s going to do his duty by serving on the Select Committee but then he’s throwing in the towel. “It’s not on Liz Cheney and I to save the Republican Party,” he told George Stephanopoulos when he was asked if he was handing Trump a win.
Since they’ve lost so many advertisers, Fox News has started a streaming service for their most hard core viewers. Content will be created for the worst of the worst of the violent and angry white supremacists who are willing to pay to be riled up. It’s a “members only,” exclusive KKK thing where you don’t have to leave your house. You can attend meetings, led by Fox News, from the comfort of your own Lazy Boy.
Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto has a case of breakthrough covid. He has battled Stage 4 cancer and multiple sclerosis so he encouraged his viewers to get vaccinated. Now he’s getting death threats. They’re not paying for that shit!
Cops, firefighters and paramedics who refuse to get vaccinated aren’t getting the public sympathy they thought they’d get after walking off their jobs in protest. Whoever thought that the public would prefer someone who won’t give them covid when they’re pulling them out of a burning building, performing CPR, or giving them a ride in their patrol car after being rescued from a kidnapper?
If the unvaccinated cops would have just complied, they wouldn’t be unemployed.
Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert made explosive tweets about literally blowing up the Capitol on Halloween. You can’t yell “Fire!” in a movie theatre or an airplane but you can “there she blows!” in the Capitol if you’re a Trumplican.
A 20 year old Comanche indigenous woman in Oklahoma had a miscarriage and got sentenced to 4 years in prison for 1st degree manslaughter after the state decided she killed her 17 week old fetus by being a drug user, even though it couldn’t be proven that the drugs caused the miscarriage. Abortion is still legal in Oklahoma up to 20 weeks. 10–20% of pregnancies end in miscarriage.
Mississippi, the dumbest, poorest, must unhealthy state in the nation is bringing a Roe v Wade reversal case on the grounds that the science about fetus viability has changed in 50 years. Mississippi is pointing to SCIENCE?
An OB-GYN in Texas had to tell a patient that her fetus had anencephaly, a condition where the baby doesn’t have a brain. It’s always fatal. In this instance, an abortion is standard procedure to spare the patient from the fetus dying inside her or by putting her through childbirth where she will then have to deal with unnecessary emotional trauma of having to deal with the baby’s deformation and death. Texas says she doesn’t have a choice.
561 abortion restrictions have been introduced in 47 state legislatures this year, 97 of which have already been enacted.
The Supreme Court is taking up Texas’s abortion case today.
If men had any risk in the abortion debate the debate would be over.
Here we go again.
