Geoffrey Berman, the former District Attorney of the Southern District of New York who stood up to Bill Barr and got fired, has written a tell all book calling out Trump and Bill Barr for corrupting the Department of Justice and using it as a weapon for Trump. Berman was told to prosecute Trump’s enemies without cause and do favors for his friends. After his office prosecuted Trump supporters Chris Collins and Michael Cohen, he was directed to prosecute Obama’s White House counsel, Greg Craig, without evidence to “even things out.” They told him to go after Obama’s secretary of state, John Kerry, too as well as other Democrats. He refused so they got a different federal prosecutor in DC to do it. She brought a case against Greg Craig which resulted in a 2 1/2 week trial and immediate acquittal because there was no case. He was totally innocent. Even though she did as Bill Barr asked, he pushed her out and replaced her with an operative who dropped charges and undid Mike Flynn’s guilty plea. He undid the recommended sentence for Roger Stone. He killed active investigations on people who had not yet been charged.
Edward O’Callaghan, the acting associate deputy AG for Bill Barr told SDNY to remove “Individual 1” from the language in the Michael Cohen court filings. Anywhere that Trump directed Cohen to do stuff was taken out. The total page count went from 40 to 21.
Bill Barr tried to get Berman to resign but he refused. Then Bill Barr made a public announcement that Berman had resigned. Berman put out a press release saying he did no such thing. He refused to go because he knew that once he was out they’d put a bad guy in his place. His office continued to investigate people for campaign finance violations after Michael Cohen pleaded guilty, including Trump. Bill Barr told him to stop investigating Trump. Bill Barr tried to kill all of the investigations and wanted him to reverse Michael Cohen’s conviction because Trump was implicated in his plea. Berman wouldn’t so Barr fired him. He was close to indicting Steve Bannon for the Build the Wall case and was in the middle of the Trump Ukraine investigation when he was fired. Bill Barr got rid of him because he was a threat to Trump’s re-election.
Dick Durbin, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee has called for an investigation into Geoffrey Berman’s claims and has asked the DOJ for all documentation on cases where he has accused the department of interference.
Bill Barr was the Trump Crime Family underboss who weaponized the justice department and let it be used as the crime family’s personal legal counsel. Now he’s out there doing a rehab tour, cooperating with investigations into Trump so he can emerge as one of the good guys. He should not be allowed to reinvent himself. He’s a bad guy. Geoffrey Berman is one of the only good guys.
The DOJ has issued 40 subpoenas to members of the Trump crime family. Russian-American “political strategist” Boris Epshteyn and White House staffer Mike Roman got their phones seized. Epshteyn helped Trump negotiate Trump Tower in Moscow and admitted to being in on the electors scam on TV. Mike Roman was the idiot who delivered the Michigan fraudulent electors to Senator Mike Lee to give to Mike Pence. Lower level aides had their phones seized too because Trump used them on January 6. Stanley Woodward, Dan Scavino’s attorney, got one too. Bernard Kerik, the former New York City police commissioner and Rudy’s former body guard, got one. He’s already been to jail for 8 felonies. Trump pardoned him.
The subpoenas vary in scope because so many crimes have been committed by so many people. The are 5 or 6 grand juries investigating Trump and his crime family. People will be questioned on the fake electors scheme, Trump’s fundraising, January 6, and MORE!
