On Your Mark, Get Set….

Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, former US Congressman and founder of the Freedom Caucus, could be the fall guy for Trump’s failed coup attempt. He has been really quiet and out of sight for months but after being seen on Capitol Hill a couple of days ago and the news breaking last night that the DOJ is in fact, investigating Trump for his role in the insurrection, we’re going to be hearing a lot more about Mark Meadows.

Mark Meadows turned over 2,300 texts to the Select Committee earlier in their investigation and then abruptly stopped (he had 1,000 more texts but refused to turn them over, no doubt because of something Trump said or did) so the committee subpoenaed him but he refused to comply so then they referred him to the DOJ for failing to appear but the DOJ said they wouldn’t prosecute him for contempt of Congress because he must have flipped.

Mark Meadows texted 40 Republican members of Congress, cabinet members, rally organizers, family members, and former members of Congress between the day of the election and the inauguration. He communicated with Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, Mo Brooks, Louie Gohmert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Mike Lindell, Rudy Giuliani, Jared, Ivanka, Mike Mulvaney, Reince Priebus, Jason Miller, Dan Scavino, Junior, Mike Lee, Sean Hannity, and Ginni Thomas.

Mark Meadows was at the meeting at the White House with Mike Pence, Rudy, and 10 members of Congress on December 21 to discuss John Eastman’s plan to have Mike Pence stop the counting of the votes to give the election back to the states.

Mark Meadows used burner phones during the insurrection and burned documents in the fireplace in his office after meeting with Scott Perry.

Mark Meadows wanted to include language in Trump’s speech that said he would pardon the January 6th rioters.

Mark Meadows received intel around January 4 that there could be violence at the Capitol from lead Secret Service agent, Tony Ornato.

What has Mark Meadows been doing since trying to overturn the US election? He’s a partner at the Conservative Partnership Institute which is dedicated to getting far right candidates elected using dark money and getting rules changed for elections. Trump donated $1 million through his “Save America” PAC 25 days after the Select Committee was formed at the beginning of July 2021. The Conservative Partnership Institute is so far out there they liken abortion to child sacrifice.

A couple of hours after Trump gave the keynote speech at the AFPI in DC yesterday, the news broke that he was being investigated. A grand jury has already been impaneled and key witnesses are being questioned. Fox didn’t air any of Trump’s speech but they did air 17 minutes of Pence’s speech.

Time to make another $1 million donation from the “Save America” PAC, eh Trump?
