Oops I Did it Again

He got away with it again. The guy who has conned and crimed and lied his way through 74 miserable years on this planet without suffering any consequences has done it again. The Republicans acquitted him for a second time in one year, this time with the help of Mitch McConnell. They let him off again, this time on a technicality — you can’t impeach someone who isn’t in office anymore only Mitch McConnell refused to let the trial start until after the inauguration when he and Trump were no longer the most powerful men in government but here they are again. They did it again.
The Senate voted 57 guilty, 43 not guilty. Trump got away with murder. The Republicans who broke with the pack and voted guilty were Richard Burr, Susan Collins, Bill Cassidy, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, and Pat Toomey.
Once again the Republicans have come out triumphant and the minority won, and Trump has got everybody talking about him again. The news that Trump “won” has emboldened MAGAs. They didn’t watch the trial but have interpreted the news as a “win” and are standing back and standing by, awaiting their next orders.
Trump sent out a long memo before the vote was even counted saying there is more to come from his movement. They have just begun! Together, they will make America great again, again!
Trump is fundraising off of his “win,” conning his idiot cult followers into sending him money, AGAIN.
US Republican Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana had the guts to make a short video which was to the point with no political double talk, for his social media accounts to explain his vote to the people of his state, “Our Constitution and our country is more important than any one person. I voted to convict President Trump because he is guilty.” The Louisiana GOP censured him.
US Republican Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa called the trial a “total, total shit show….a tool of revenge….if they want to drag this out, we’ll drag it out. They won’t get their noms, they won’t get anything.”
Republicans have chosen to die on Capitol Hill. Once again for the assholes in the back like Josh Hawley and Rand Paul: Republicans have chosen to die on Capitol Hill. The Republican Party from here on out shall be known as the Sedition Party.
All of the Republicans who voted to acquit just made the Sedition Party an official third party. Like their leader, none of them cared that Mike Pence was targeted. They don’t give a shit about Officer Eugene Goodman or any other Capitol police. They wouldn’t have voted any differently if Officer Goodman had been murdered, or Mike Pence, or any of their colleagues. None of them care about the country or each other. They’re so callous and greedy that they all voted to acquit a madman that not only almost killed Mike Pence, Eugene Goodman, all of the police, and their colleagues, but THEM, but whatever, they didn’t so so what. They only care about themselves. The Republican core value — fuck everybody else, it’s all about ME!
Me! Me! Me AGAIN!
The people who vote for Republicans only care about themselves, too. Trump has killed their friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members with covid, but whatever, at least I’m not dead. Cops are killing their black neighbors and co-workers, but whatever, I’m white so they’re not going to shoot me. Their LGBTQ neighbors and community members are committing suicide because the people that they vote for enact laws that make it a crime to be alive, but so what, they shouldn’t be gay. Immigrants were being rounded up and imprisoned without due process for a misdemeanor, but whatever, go back to your country.
Republicans have forgiven Trump for an attack on the US government like their voters forgive them for attacking others’ civil and human rights. Now they’re all trapped in their own private hell, haunted by what they’ve done, but they’ll never admit it. Oopsie! I did it again.
Officer Eugene Goodman and his fellow officers will have to go on protecting the 43 senators who acquitted the man who almost got them killed.
Mitch McConnell made a very calculated move by making a speech on the Senate floor after the trial ended where he condemned Trump, conceded that the House Managers had proven their case, but that he had to vote to acquit because you can’t impeach someone who isn’t in office. That’s total bullshit, but it won’t be obvious bullshit to everybody who reads about it after we’re all dead. The SOB fixed it so he won’t be the villain in the official record of the trial. Speeches after the fact don’t count, Mitch. Only votes count. He voted NOT GUILTY. Mitch McConnell did it again.
The presidential impeachments of the modern era will be remembered as Republicans abused their power to set one president up to lie about his private sex life and acquitted another for treason, twice. Republicans are the problem. Republicans have always been the problem. Americans can’t let this happen again. Everybody needs to vote for Democrats for the rest of their lives so these fuckers never hold power again at any level — from the local school board all the way up to president.
A failed coup with no consequences is just a rehearsal. The Republicans have set a precedent now — all Republican presidents going forward can attack the Capitol 2 weeks before the end of their reign to maintain power and if they don’t succeed with the coup at least they’ll get away with murder.
These atrocities will happen again and again and again and again and again unless Republicans are removed from power.
Trump succeeded in gaslighting us again with this trial. Even without Twitter everybody is talking about him. Again.
