Republicans are duking it out in an empty house behind closed doors to pick a new Speaker. Right now it looks like the two finalists are an insurrectionist in contempt of Congress and “David Duke without the baggage.”
There is a war going on in Israel and we have no ambassador. Without a Speaker, Congress can’t send emergency aid to Israel. The House is paralyzed, passed out by being too drunk on its own power. The dysfunction and chaos have risen to new heights. The Republicans are acting like a bunch of high school mean girls, fighting over who should be Housecoming King. The top 2 candidates who want the job don’t have the votes. Jim Jordan is being called out for his part on January 6 and for ignoring teen sexual abuse in his previous career as a college wrestling coach. Former school wrestlers have publicly said he shouldn’t be speaker. Steve Scalise is going through cancer treatment and is on record for being a white supremacist. They both voted to decertify the results of the 2020 election so they shouldn’t be running at all. Kevin McCarthy says he’ll do it.
Congressman Ken Buck is the only one so far who has had the guts to not go along with the crowd. He told reporters he voted present on the Scalise-Jordan race. “If we don’t have the moral clarity to decide whether President Biden won or not, we don’t have the moral clarity to rule.”
Mean girl and camera hog Congresswoman Nancy Mace showed up to work in a t-shirt with the letter “A” on it to draw attention to her Republican vagina. She told the press, “I’m wearing the scarlet letter after the week I had being a woman and being demonized for my vote and voice.” Was this in response to what she said at the prayer breakfast about being in bed with her fiancé? Republicans aren’t supposed to have sex before marriage.
Congressman Cory Mills is not playing party games with the other Republicans who are bickering about who to vote for for Housecoming King. He’s in Israel, evacuating Americans.
Congressman George Santos was hit with a 23-count superseding indictment. He’s facing one count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States, two counts of wire fraud, two counts of making materially false statements to the FEC, two counts of falsifying records submitted to obstruct the FEC, two counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of access device fraud.” He not only gets to cast a vote for Housecoming King, he gets to keep voting on all Congressional matters because he refuses to resign and is still running for re-election. Woo-hoo! PARTY!

Over in the Senate, Pentagon officials briefed senators on the Israeli crisis and emphasized that there are 9 senior military positions responsible for the Middle East that are facing disruptions due to Tommy Tuberville holding up appointments to protest abortion.
Tommy Tuberville filed a police report with the Capitol Police against the former CIA Director because he posted a mean tweet about him.
We have no ambassador to Israel. Biden picked somebody, Jack Lew, but he hasn’t been confirmed by the Senate.
Ted Cruz tweeted: “You can thank Biden and the Democrats for the rockets flying into Israel.” Cruz is blocking the confirmation of the chief counterintelligence official at the State Department and the next ambassador to Israel.
We don’t have an ambassador to Egypt, either. Egypt shares a border with the Gaza strip.
The nominees for ambassador to Oman and Kuwait are waiting for confirmation, too. Senator Ted Cruz is holding up several of the Middle East nominations, claiming that the “nominees keep lying to Congress and the American people, testifying publicly that they are committed to countering Iran and deepening the US/Israel relationship then implementing the opposite policies in secret once confirmed.” He is doing this to create chaos so he can get media attention which is what he always does. Nobody ever invites him to their parties so he crashes them instead.

Israel is now being attacked from the north by Hezbollah. It’s a different terrorist organization from Hamas who attacked from the south. Hezbollah has no significant territorial dispute with Israel, it is a proxy of Iran that is openly committed to Jewish genocide. It operates out of Lebanon, which borders Israel. As with Hamas not representing the Palestinian people, Hezbollah is not representative of Lebanon.
The US does not have an ambassador to Lebanon.
So far, 1,200 Israelis have died and 2,700 are injured. 900 are dead in Gaza and 4,250 are injured. 7 of the dead were journalists. 22 Americans have been killed.
The US is facing a crisis in the Middle East with a weakened diplomatic corps, a weakened military, and a weakened government overall, while the Republicans fuck around like highschoolers at a House party while their parents are out of town. Somebody call the cops and break this party up. It’s time to clean House.
