Protect and Defund
After a week of protests in every state in the country, white officials (correction — White House officials) are working on a plan for Trump to address the nation this week about race and unity. Trump is sure to brag about the Republican party freeing the slaves and Abraham Lincoln being a very good friend of his. He’ll fuck this up for sure.
A majority of the members of the Minneapolis City Council support disbanding the city’s police department which is huge. Minneapolis will be the first to dismantle the police state. They’ll rebuild something new.
Trump spent his weekend hiding and tweeting. He’s going after Republicans, one at a time.
Republican former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has urged Trump to get off of Twitter and focus on being president. She thinks he should start by fostering dialogue with the American people which is a very bad idea because Trump can’t dialogue. He only monologues. And when he monologues he always, ALWAYS says something incredibly stupid. He’d fuck up a dialogue.
Trump’s wall that he built around the White House has been converted in to an outdoor art gallery, a memorial wall to black men and women who have lost their lives at the hands of police. People adding names, paintings and posters. The Smithsonian better keep all of it and some of the fencing once that wall gets torn down.
Republican Senator Mitt Romney marched with a group of 1,000 Christians yesterday. He did it “to make sure that people understand that Black Lives Matter.”
Trump’s token black cabinet member, Ben Carson, says he’s going to “reserve judgement” on all of the shitty things Trump has tweeted and said since George Floyd was murdered by the police in front of the world. Fuck you, Ben Carson.
Top Cop Bill Barr went on “Face the Nation” and said that pepper spray is NOT a chemical irritant. ER doctors and nurses beg to differ. It most certainly is a chemical irritant you fuck up Trump butt kisser. Using pepper spray on people who aren’t doing anything wrong violates the 4th Amendment. Fuck you, Bill Barr.
New Zealand is the place to be right now. In the last year they’ve banned assault weapons and beat the coronavirus. People have resumed their lives. Meanwhile in America, Trump and the Republicans keep fucking everything up.
Trump endorsed Lindsey Graham for the South Carolina primary. Fuck that guy.
Democrats have unveiled a sweeping police reform bill that includes creating a national registry to track officer misconduct, making it easier to sue officers who unjustly injure people, limiting military gear sent to police, banning chokeholds and no-knock arrest warrants in drug cases. Republicans will fuck with it, of course.
People want to defund the police which isn’t the best messaging since the Republicans and Fox News will turn it into “kill the cops.” It doesn’t mean eliminate cops from society. It means quit pouring money into police departments (and prisons) to fortify the militarization of the police and the perpetuation of slavery. It means take all that extra money and INVEST it in services and programs for housing, public health, education, jobs, and mental health to improve the quality of life for everyone. Lift people up instead of letting cops dominate, control and kill. It means kill the cops in a nice way……by chokeholding the police state.
