So much for the red wave. Republicans and the media thought that Republicans were going to win the House, Senate and governorships all across the country. The final count isn’t in yet, but right now it’s pretty much a tie in both houses plus Democrats won a lot of state races. Turns out that abortion was a top issue after all. Republicans and the media didn’t listen and now they look pretty stupid. Women and Gen Z made fools out of the GOP and the MSM. Republicans made the mistake of predicting how women would vote based upon what they think they should be — housewives that don’t care about anything but their grocery bills and the price of gas and the MSM made the mistake of sticking to Republicans’ talking points so they could avoid appearing “liberal.”
Kevin McCarthy declared himself House Speaker at 2 a.m. before the votes were counted. 60 House races had yet to be called. He told his devotees, “When you wake up tomorrow, we will be in the majority and Nancy Pelosi will be in the minority.”

Presidents usually lose seats in the House during their first term. Trump lost 40, Obama lost 63, Clinton lost 52, Bush Sr lost 8, Reagan lost 26, and Carter lost 15. Being tied the morning after, even after all the gerrymandering they did in states after the census, means the Republicans lost even if they manage to squeak out a win. It should have been a red wave, but it won’t be which means Biden makes history again.
Pennsylvania flipped blue — Fetterman is going to the Senate and insurrectionist Doug Mastriano lost.
The Republican supermajority in North Carolina has lost its power so now the they can’t override the Democratic governor’s vetoes of any of their abortion bans.
Women who care more about the price of salad dressing won in many important races, several had 2 women running against each other. Kathy Hochul became the first woman to be elected governor of New York. Massachusetts elected its first woman and openly lesbian for governor, Maura Healey. Pennsylvania elected its first Black woman, Summer Lee, to the House of Representatives, Alaskan native woman, Mary Peltola, won re-election, Pennsylvania elected its first Black lesbian, La‘Tasha Mayes, to the state legislature. Letitia James won re-election for New York Attorney General and Governor Gretchen Whitmer won re-election in Michigan. It was a great night for Michigan. Democrats control the state government for the first time in 40 years. Dems flipped both chambers in the state legislature. Dems are going to get a ton done in the next 2 years.
California, Michigan, and Vermont became the first states to codify abortion in their state constitutions. Kentucky rejected a tricky measure that would have added anti-abortion language to its constitution.
Maryland elected its first Black governor, Wes Moore (he’s the third Black governor in the country), Pennsylvania elected its first Black lieutenant governor, Austin Davis. Gen Z has a seat at the table! Orlando elected 25 year old Democrat Maxwell Alejandro Frost to the House of Representatives.
Wisconsin did not elect its first Black Senator. They preferred the same old rich white man, Putin loving MAGA Republican Ron Johnson.
Lauren Boebert lost her re-election bid but 210 MAGA Republicans who refuse to acknowledge that the 2020 election was not stolen were elected and re-elected.
There was a record voter turn out in states except for Florida. It turned deep red. Republicans won all over the state, even in areas where they don’t usually win. More white Republicans got elected to the House of Representatives because DeSantis gerrymandered their districts. They’re cheat seats. Does the low turnout of Democratic voters mean that Democrats didn’t show up or did they vote but their votes weren’t counted? Is it conspiratorial or Trumplike? Have they blamed the left long enough for what the right is doing?
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the new governor of Arkansas which is creepy. The whole family is creepy. The state is creepy. She ran against the “radical left”. She won even though there is no radical left in creepy Arkansas. People don’t even know their right from their left.
Marjorie Taylor Green won re-election in Georgia. Black people aren’t surprised. They won’t even stop for gas in her district. Putin’s pet and “don’t tread on me” libertarian Rand Paul won re-election in Kentucky. Bible thumping no-show Marco Rubio won re-election in Florida and 89 year old Chuck Grassley won re-election in Iowa. He will be Iowa’s senator until he’s 95, if he lives that long.
Not as many new Trump humping MAGA extremists won as were predicted, except for JD Vance and that’s scary. He worships Trump and Hitler. Trump will take credit for his win, but not any of the MAGAs that lost. He said those losers are the Republican Party’s fault.
MAGA Republican Kari Lake was screaming foul early in the day yesterday, claiming fraud. MAGA Republicans are going to raise hell like they did with Trump if Kari Lake loses. That’s not just creepy and scary, it’s fascist. They were refusing to the accept the results of a democratic election before the votes were even collected. In Maricopa County where armed whackos patrolled ballot boxes with guns and stalked voters, 400,000 votes have yet to be counted. This is a ticking time bomb, a red stave.
