The Federalist Society, Catholic, white, Republican, corrupt, bought and paid for Supreme Court has the lowest approval rating in history. Scandals are piling up and now Democrats in the Senate want to see some serious changes, starting with developing an ethics code. There isn’t one and there never has been in the history of the court. Supreme Court justices play by their own rules and police themselves. They answer to no one. There are 1,770 federal judges in the US and 9 of them do whatever they want. They reign supreme. 5 of the 9 are currently involved in scandals. The Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee want to fix things so they can’t get away with scandals. The Republicans don’t want to fix anything because this is the court of their making. Things are working just fine for them. The chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee invited Chief Justice Roberts to testify at a hearing and he declined. His wife made $10.3 million recruiting lawyers who would later appear before the Supreme Court.
Supreme Court justices have testified in 92 hearings since 1960 but Justice Roberts acts like its unprecedented and beneath him to have to do it.
11 years ago senators from the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote the chief justice and said that the court needed to adopt a code of conduct and for years they have refused.
The Republicans are accusing the Democrats of wanting to destroy the Supreme Court. Lindsey Graham said in a Judiciary Committee hearing yesterday, “This assault on Justice Thomas is well beyond ethics. It’s about trying to delegitimize a conservative court.”
Clarence Thomas never said a word for 3 decades until 3 MAGA justices came on board. His wife, Ginni, was part of planning the coup. He’s getting a lot of attention lately for accepting favors and gifts from a billionaire who has business before the court regularly. His legacy will be killing Affirmative Action after benefiting from it, facing off with Anita Hill during his confirmation hearing after he talked nasty to her on the job, being nothing but dead weight on the court and never opening his mouth to speak then voting with Scalia, rejecting his blackness and living a privileged white man’s life with a white wife. Clarence Thomas is a mediocre white man — the OJ of the Supreme Court. His career on the bench started in scandal and will end in crimes.
Neil Gorsuch was confirmed after Mitch McConnell kept that seat open for nearly a year until a Republican president could fill it. Since Trump is an illegitimate president, does that mean that Neil Gorsuch is an illegitimate Supreme Court justice? Most recently it came out that that he failed to disclose that he abruptly sold property for $1.8 million, right after he got the job, to the chief executive of a law firm that routinely appears before the court.
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy retired unexpectedly to make room for Brett Kavanaugh, his former clerk. His son was a banker for Deutsche Bank who loaned Trump over $1 billion.
Brett Kavanaugh was in debt $200,000 before being confirmed and then his debt disappeared. Nobody knows who paid it off for him. He totally bombed his confirmation hearing. He threw fits and cried. When a woman from his past came forward to say he tried to rape her, the FBI opened a tip line for people to call in with any information they had on Kavanaugh. 4,500 tips came in and the FBI never investigated any of them. Journalists filed to get access to them under the Freedom of Information Act but were denied. Hundreds of tips were deleted and 1,000 were redacted.

Mitch McConnell rammed Amy Coney Barrett through during Covid, right after Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, and right before the 2020 election. The justice hadn’t even been buried yet. Coney Barrett had never tried a case. Her judgement is so bad that she dragged her seven kids to a super spreader event at the White House in her honor and didn’t make them wear masks.

Supreme Court justices are some of the most powerful people in our government. They are also among the least accountable, playing by their own sets of rules. It won’t even acknowledge that there are problems. The conservatives on the court are all partisan and were installed to give Republicans more power.
SCOTUS fun fact: There weren’t any confirmation hearings for the first 127 years of the Supreme Court because the justices were all white Christian men. The policy changed when the first Jewish man was nominated. He had to be scrutinized.
At the end of Trump’s presidency, the Supreme Court was surrounded by fencing to keep The People out.
