Remember Trump
President Biden announced this morning that the US conducted a raid in Syria that killed the leader of ISIS. That’s going to piss Trump off because he already did that. Remember?
Trump had an announcement of his own this morning. He called the 2020 election the “crime of the century” and referred to everybody who has been arrested for attacking the Capitol as citizens who were just protesting the result.
Trump asked about pardoning everybody who participated in the attack before he left office so he could bribe them so they wouldn’t testify against him. He also wanted to announce that he would run again before Biden’s inauguration to drive home the point that Biden was not the real victor. Somehow someone talked him out of that.
On July 26, 2021, Trump’s political action committee, Save America PAC, donated $1 million to the think tank, Conservative Partnership Institute, because Mark Meadows had been cooperating with the Select Committee that had just been formed. Mark Meadows is a senior partner of the Conservative Partnership Institute. After the donation was made, Mark Meadows stopped cooperating. Trump has been donating to all of the campaigns of his allies running for state offices so he can help get them into power so they’ll help him seize power in 2024.
The Select Committee has been kicking ass. It has spoken to 475 witnesses, gathered 60,000 pages of documents, and obtained 700 pages from the National Archives. More are on the way. Public hearings should start in April and they will blow minds (except for the QAnon minds that have atrophied from poison.)
Oath Keepers founder, Stewart Rhodes testified before the Select Committee for 6 hours. Jeffrey Clark finally did, too.
Impeachment witness Alexander Vindman is suing Trump using the 1871 Ku Klux Clan Act. He had the guts to testify at the first impeachment trial which ruined his career. He was threatened and forced to resign. Now he’s suing the Trump family, Trump’s lawyers and the right wing media that tried to intimidate him so he wouldn’t testify.
6 historically Black colleges and universities got bomb threats before sunrise on the first day of Black History Month. That’s a total of 22 terrorist threats in 3 rounds made against HBCUs in a month. Anonymous neo-Nazis have taken credit for this coordinated hate crime.
Republican politicians in Florida have denounced the Nazis in Florida but not the governor.
Republicans in the US Senate are feeling the pressure to finally confirm Deborah Lipstadt, Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Georgia, who Biden nominated for the State Department’s office for combating antisemitism. Since she’s been critical of Republicans, the Republicans on the foreign relations committee have been getting partisan revenge on her by putting her off for 6 months even though anti-semitism has been on the rise. Since they don’t want to appear to be anti-semitic, they better make the calculation that making her pay for speaking out against them isn’t a good look for them.
Putin has 100,000 troops at the Ukraine border but blames Biden for egging them into a war in order to impose sanctions on Russia.
Remember when Russia helped Trump win in 2016 so he’d remove sanctions?
Josh Hawley, the junior senator from Missouri who is one of the Forever Trumpers who applauded and encouraged the insurrection, called for the Biden administration to drop support for Ukraine joining NATO via letter and requested that press secretary Jen Psaki put that at the top of her press briefing. She did. She says the Missouri Republican is “parroting Russian talking points.”
Remember when Trump told reporters on Air Force One that he was going to delay hosting the G7 Summit so that he could invite Russia and South Korea?
Remember when Trump did a better job of representing Russia at the G7 than he did America?
Remember when Trump was impeached for trying to extort Ukraine by withholding military aide unless they went along with the Big Lie so he could win re-election?
Remember when Trump’s campaign pushed to remove proposed language from the 2016 Republican platform that called for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russia and the GOP went along with it? Trump’s campaign manager at the time, Paul Manafort, had worked for a decade as a “consultant” for a political party in Ukraine that was backed by Russian oligarchs. The party was anti-America and opposed to NATO. Manafort gave campaign data to Russia. He went to jail for bank and tax fraud and Trump pardoned him. Remember that guy?
Manafort Destiny — Paul Manafort is so broke he wrote a book. Simon and Schuster must be broke because they actually published it. The title is, Political Prisoner. Don’t buy it. Toss it in the “books to be burned” pile.
Remember Trump? The media doesn’t seem to, it’s too busy trying to find scandals and “failures” in the Biden administration. The Republicans are acting like 2016–2021 never happened. And Democrats are eating their own again, debating about stupid stuff and splitting hairs over bald heads.
The Select Committee’s public hearings can’t come soon enough. People need to remember.
