Remember When?
Remember when Michael Flynn led a “Lock her up!” chant at the Republican National Convention and then later admitted to working for the Russians? Attorney General Jeff Sessions joined chanting high school students with “Lock her up!” while speaking at an event in Washington DC in his official capacity as America’s top cop. He did his little elf giggle and encouraged kids to “lock her up.”
Speaking of locking people up, remember when Jeff Sessions committed perjury when he lied to the US Senate, which is a felony, about meeting with Russians and he didn’t get locked up?
US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, spoke at the same event that Jeff Sessions giggled at. She told the kids, “Real leadership is about persuasion, it’s about movement, it’s bringing people around to your point of view.” Remember what she did during an emergency UN Security Council meeting to talk about the violence in Gaza? After the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, Riyad Mansour, began to speak she got up and stomped out of the meeting.
Trump has an enemies list and is exacting revenge on them using his presidential powers. He remembers anybody who has ever “wronged” him.
Paul Ryan made excuses for Trump threatening his enemies. He said, “He’s just trolling people.” Remember when he made excuses for him in the beginning of his presidency by saying “He’s new at this?” What’s he going to say when the feds bust down his door at the White House? “He’s a misunderstood (con) artist?”
Remember when Mitch McConnell said there will be no investigation into Russia?
Remember when Ivanka got all those Chinese trademarks after batting her “Daddy buys me everything” sweet baby blues while shaking her “Independent Woman” brand? Turns out she won’t be needing those trademarks after all. She is closing down her name sake fashion brand. She’s marketing it as an ethical decision but Trumps aren’t ethical. She’s doing it because her brand has bombed and the feds are closing in on her.
Speaking of Ivanka’s failed brand, remember when Kellyanne Conway went on TV and told everyone to buy Ivanka’s crap? That was a violation of ethics rules but Kellyanne never suffered any consequences.
Nobody has suffered any consquences.
Remember when Trump spoke at the annual Boy Scouts jamboree and turned it into a soft porn campaign rally and bragged about his electoral win? He did it again with the Veterans of Foreign Wars only he didn’t tease this crowd with promises of orgies on yachts. He promised them that only he can save them. “Stick with us. Don’t believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news.” The crowd booed, on cue, for their commander in chief. “Just remember that what you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not happening,” he assured them. The crowd clapped, on cue, for their commander in chief.
The VFW had originally planned to hold Trump’s stumped speech in the convention center but there weren’t enough people to fill the room. So at the last minute they announced his speech would be moved to the municipal auditorium. The auditorium was only half full. Like most VFW meetings, they get smaller because people get old and die.
Remember when Sean Spicer yelled at the press and declared Trump’s inauguration the biggest in history, period? He wrote a book. The best, most interesting, most informative book ever in the history of the world, period.
Remember when Trump spoke to the unforgotten Real America and promised them the moon if they’d vote for him and they did? Now he has to pull $12 billion out of the sky (not his money, as usual,) to subsidize farmers for their lost sales in soybeans and meat. China and Mexico imposed revenge tariffs on farmers for Trump imposing tariffs on them. Will farmers be expected to pee in a cup before getting their big government handout?
Remember Wilbur Ross? He’s the old, rich white man who was in charge of a Euro take-over of the Bank of Cyprus where the Russian oligarchs stored their cash. Now he’s our commerce secretary. This would be a major scandal if this were any other administration. But it’s the Trump administration so we never hear about it.
Remember the talk about Michael Cohen having incriminating tapes? The first one was just released which has Michael Cohen and Trump talking about setting up a LLC to pay a woman off. Now everybody is talking about that instead of what happened in Helsinki a short week ago.
Remember when Georgia state representative Jason Spencer pulled his pants down and screamed, “America!” while trying to rub his bare butt on an anti-terrorist expert on camera a couple of days ago? Remember how he blamed it on the liberals? He resigned. The “liberals made me do it” defense didn’t work.
Remember when Hillary Clinton warned us that Trump was Putin’s puppet?
ACTION ITEM FOR THE DAY: Call our reps and demand that there be consequences for Trump and his family violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution that they re-instate funding for election security.
