Republican Rehab
Yesterday was the MAGA Republicans’ big day. Their new House subcommittee investigating the “weaponization of the federal government” held its first hearing! Woo-hoo! Party!
Hunter Biden’s laptop. The only thing that’s on Hunter Biden’s laptop is the same stuff that anybody would have on their laptop including phone numbers, passwords, bank account information, health information, credit card numbers, etc, — all stuff that nobody but hackers and the FBI would be interested in (if he had committed any crimes.) The other stuff is what you’d find on any guy’s computer who is deep in his drug and sex addiction — lots of porn and pictures of himself naked. Nothing criminal having to do with his father, just a lot of embarrassing stuff if it’s made public. He is more than likely very ashamed of himself which is why he kept doing it. Anybody who has recovered from, or lived with active addiction can tell you that the repeated cycle of addiction is based in shame which impacts family members, friends and work relationships. It’s a relentless cycle where an awful lot of people get hurt. Most people, except for celebrities, deal with this privately. Hunter Biden is not just the son of the president, and thus a celebrity, but he has been targeted by the Republican party who are all using his weakness against him which makes them just as sick as he is. They need Republican rehab.
The first thing Hunter needs to do to be free of addiction, and hopefully he’s already done it, is to get clean AND come clean with everybody he has hurt. People who have been successful in getting and staying sober in AA and have gone through all 12 steps can attest that while it’s unpleasant, scary and sometimes sickening to have to open the door and look at your skeletons and then do your best to fix what you broke, it won’t kill you and once you’ve done it, you’re finally free. People will love, trust, and respect you again. Tell the truth, make amends, let it all go, and start over.
Republicans need to do this, too. They’re addicted to power and they’ve done horrible, shameful, unforgiveable things to get and maintain it. They’ve hurt their families, their staffs, innocent Americans, their own party, and the country itself. If the GOP is going to survive, it can’t just purge itself from the QAnon loonies like crackheads on the street. They’re all going to need to go to rehab. They’re going to need to undergo a profound psychic change and that means getting off the power drug, admitting their wrongs, and making their amends to all of us. Otherwise, they’ll die on the streets.
America as a country has to confess its sins, too. We can’t keep drinking the cocky tale that makes us all feel like we’re the greatest country in the world. We’re not. But we could be, if we own our shit, the MAGA Republicans go to rehab or die, and everybody commits to recovery one day at a time. That would make us great.
Everybody who watches Fox needs an intervention at this point. Take away their phones, access to TV and the internet and make them sit through 4 meetings a day where they get hit with the truth from their family, friends and coworkers. Tell them how their behavior has impacted them since Trump came along and then hit them over and over and over again with facts, facts, facts without Fox, Fox, Fox.
Kevin McCarthy is so addicted to power he humiliates himself in front of the world, like the alcoholic cheerleader who does the whole team in one night. They have a saying in AA, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.” McCarthy is so far gone he doesn’t know who he is anymore. He’s hit such a bottom he’s having to sell his blood for fast cash. He’s so drunk on power he doesn’t know when he’s hallucinating. He’s high on winning, completely out of touch with how he is humiliating himself, just giddy over the fact that he barely won. “Apparently I like to make history,” he said. You made history, alright, but not for the reasons you think. None of the guys on the football team actually like you.

For the Republicans who committed crimes as a result of their addiction to power, they’ll have to pay their debt to society. They don’t get to sober up and then move on like nothing happened. They’ll have to right some pretty big wrongs. Trump and everybody else in the Trump crime family all need to go to jail or the nation can’t heal. Trump wiped his ass with the Constitution and flushed it down the toilet like a drug addict with the cops at the door. Trump is addicted to power, money, food, gambling, attention, and covering up crimes. He won’t hit bottom until he’s indicted. If he is not held accountable, he’ll keep acting out his addictions and we’ll all suffer. Most addicts don’t crash this bad, in front of the whole world, but like McCarthy, he’s a man of history.
