The House managers were focused on Article One all day — the abuse of power. Republican Senator Richard Burr gave all of the Republicans fidget spinners like they were kindergarteners. As they played with their fidget spinners they complained that the trial was boring. They’re not used to working a full day. This is the most time they’ve spent in the Senate chambers since Trump was installed. Voting for conservative judges doesn’t take any time at all. It leaves them with plenty of time to hang out in the halls of Congress to do live interviews with Fox to bitch about Democrats. Senator Tom Cotton actually snuck out during the trial to do a Fox interview. Lindsey Graham left in a huff when Jerry Nadler played a 20 year old video of him during the Clilnton impeachment trial when he was one of the managers making the case that one lie about a personal indiscretion warrants impeachment.
After Trump said he was going to cut social security in his second term because it would be the easiest of all things to cut, Chuck Schumer made sure to work that into a press conference about the trial. Soon after the press conference Trump tweeted: Democrats are going to destroy your Social Security. I have totally left it alone, as promised, and will save it!
Democrats have never tried to do anything with Social Security other than create it and protect it. MAGAs love their Social Security. They love their unemployment and disability and Medicare too. Too bad they don’t know that Democrats are the only ones working to protect them.
After saying that Adam Schiff didn’t have any friends in high school on Wednesday, Tucker Carlson put up a graphic on his screen that read, “Impeachment Theatre” to interview Devin Nunes on Thursday. He criticized Lt Col Vindman for still having a job in the White House. He said he should go work for Ukraine. Nunes said, “He probably will.”
One of the Real Housewives of Chattanoooooga, Marsha Blackburn (moonlighting as a US Senator,) read a book while she was supposed to be listening to the managers speak. What was she reading? Fun with Hick and Jane. She also live tweeted about the trial which of course jurors are not supposed to do. She attacked Lt Col Vindman: Adam Schiff is hailing Alexander Vindman as an American patriot. How patriotic is it to badmouth and ridicule our great nation in front of Russia, America’s greatest enemy?
Since when was Russia our greatest enemy? Marsha Marsha Marsha.
Trump’s “team” threatened to pull senators’ heads out of their asses and put them on pikes. They warned Republicans: “Vote against the president, and your head will be on a pike.” Trump is abusing his power to get them to vote against impeaching him for abusing his power.
Jury tampering and threatening jurors with physical violence are felonies. Let’s see if Justice Roberts just sits there again all day today.
Republicans are pouting as they spin their fidget busters.
What’s the matter? Has the pike got your head?
Congressman Adam Schiff is a man for these times. He has shown the world that all is not lost, that democracy is in good hands, but that Republicans need to rise to the challenge. He gave a presentation for the ages, one that will be remembered and studied for generations. He concluded the day by paying homage to Lt Col Vindman. “It doesn’t matter how good the Constitution is. It doesn’t matter how brilliant the framers were. If right doesn’t matter, we’re lost. If the truth doesn’t matter, we’re lost. The framers couldn’t protect us from ourselves if right and truth don’t matter.”
Right matters.
To that, Trump responded in a psycho tweet: After having been treated unbelievably unfairly in the House, and then having to endure hour after hour of lies, fraud & deception by Shifty Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer & their crew, looks like my lawyers will be forced to start on Saturday, which is called Death Valley in T.V.
Trump is lost. If the Republicans won’t allow witnesses and evidence and rush to acquit we will be too. Call your Senators.
