Select Committee Hearing #2
The second public hearing for the Select Committee was this morning. The focus was on the many witnesses who testified under oath that Trump knew there was no election fraud. The most notable witness was former Attorney General Bill Barr, Trump’s Roy Cohn, his personal defense attorney paid for with tax dollars, the same guy who corrupted the Department of Justice so that over 2,000 former DOJ officials signed on to a letter asking him to resign from, and 1,600 called him out for using the department to attack our free and fair elections. This guy fired US attorneys on Trump’s behalf, ordered his own secret police to attack protesters in DC and Portland and pinned all violence on BLM and Antifa, ordered the cops to clear the way in Lafayette Park during a BLM protest by having them gas and shoot people with rubber bullets so he and Trump could walk across the street with their entourage to get pictures taken in front of a burned church, punished whistleblowers, intervened with the Paul Manafort, Mike Flynn, and Roger Stone’s cases and saved them from jail, retaliated against Michael Cohen for writing a book about Trump and put him back in jail, intervened with a grand jury subpoena for Rudy Giuliani in 2019. He lied during his job interview and still got the job. Within a week family members got jobs too, his daughter went to work in the federal financial crimes office and the husband of his other daughter was hired in the White House counsel’s office. The first thing he did was get to work right away to fix the bombshell 400 page Mueller report by refusing to let Congress see it then doing a press conference where he summarized the report in such a way that it sounded as if Trump was totally innocent. He weaponized the justice department to reward Trump’s friends and punish his enemies, blocked investigations, and supported Trump’s campaign, blew off requests to appear before Congress, appointed federal prosecutor John Durham to dig up Hillary again and went to Italy in search of “evidence” that foreign allies helped Hillary while helping Trump out back home with his quid pro quo with Ukraine. Bill Barr threw Trump under the bus and admitted that Trump’s planned coup was bullshit. The second most dangerous man in Washington jumped ship at the last minute to save his own ass. Trump lost that guy.
On election night Rudy was wasted drunk and told Trump to declare victory anyway so he did.
The Select Committee also focused on Trump ripping his supporters off by setting up a fund to help him fight “election fraud.” He suckered them out of $250 million. He used $5 million to support his January 6th rally and gave millions to various other accounts that benefitted him personally. He’s still doing it.
20 million people watched first public hearing. That’s a lot. It was like a Sunday night football game on a Thursday night. The millions who watched via livestream couldn’t be counted.
President Biden responded to the first hearing by saying, “The insurrection on January 6th was one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history……the same forces remain at work today.”
New emails just surfaced written by Justice Thomas’s wife, Ginni Thomas, showing that she pressed 29 Arizona lawmakers to overturn the election. Her husband was the lone dissenter in a case to release those emails.
