More good news coming out of another deep red state that has had enough of Republicans and their bullshit - Alaska just elected its first native woman Democrat to Congress. 49 year old pro-choice Mary Peltola, who is Yup’ik, beat Sarah Palin in a special election. This is the first time that a Democrat has been elected to represent Alaska in the US House of Representatives in 50 years. First woman, too. There is only one House seat in Alaska and it was recently vacated by Don Young. He died after holding that seat for 50 years. Palin lost even with all that name recognition and being on TV. MAGAs always vote for people they see on TV. After she found out she lost, she said she was just going to lock and load. Voters bitch slapped the hockey mom.

Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, keeps going on Fox to slap herself and Trump. She said it’s not fair to accuse Trump of crimes like espionage because those crimes are “mundane.”

Trump’s lawyers need lawyers now.

Lindsey Graham hasn’t said a word about the DOJ’s response to Trump’s request for a special master and the photo of all the classified docs spread out on his floor.

In Fulton County, Georgia, John Eastman (the architect of the “fake electors” plan) invoked his Fifth Amendment rights when he appeared before the grand jury yesterday. Governor Brian Kemp got out of having to testify for 2 months about Trump asking Georgia to throw out Black votes because he’s running against Stacey Abrams again. He says testifying could hurt his chances of beating her a second time. Beating her the first time is debatable. When they ran against each other 4 years ago he was the secretary of state and in charge of the election. Stacey Abrams has been very busy since then fighting against voter suppression and registering voters through the organization she founded, Fair Fight Action. In a debate yesterday, she slapped him good after he insinuated that she was asking people to break the law to vote for her. “What I’ve asked for is that you allow those who are legally eligible to vote to allow them to cast their ballots,” she replied. “In fact, we took you to court in 2016 and a federal judge said that you illegally canceled 34,000 registrations.”

Jackson, Mississippi is the state capital and the biggest city in the state. It is under a state of emergency after a flood severely damaged a water treatment plant. The city water and sewage systems are over 100 years old and haven’t been upgraded because fixing old pipes with tax dollars in a city that is 82% Black doesn’t benefit the white people living in the suburbs and old plantations. The median income in Jackson is $25,000. The mayor is Black and a Democrat. The city council is 70% Black and 85% Democrat. The governor is a white male Republican. The state legislature is made up of 58 Dems (all Black except for 6 white men), 112 Republicans (all white), and 3 Independents. In the US Congress, both senators are white and 3 out of the 4 members of the House of Representatives are white men. Benny Thompson is the only Black member representing Mississippi and the only member from Mississippi who voted for Biden’s infrastructure bill. He represents Jackson but fears that their water crisis won’t benefit from the bill because the white governor has a problem with the Black mayor. Republicans gobble up all of the federal resources that the minority and poor populations in the cities qualify them for. 200,000 residents have no running water or safe water to drink. It’s over 100 degrees. White people living in the suburbs are unaffected. They’re watering their lawns, taking long showers, and enjoying their air conditioned homes, compliments of the blue states that pay more than their fair share in federal taxes.

Pakistan, the fifth most populated country in the world, is under water due to catastrophic flooding caused by an abnormal monsoon season and melting glaciers brought on by climate change. The flood created a lake so big it can be seen from space. The Indian Ocean is one of the fastest warming oceans in the world. The surface of the water is warmer than usual which creates heavier and longer monsoon rains. Much of the country is under water. 33 million have been affected. 218,000 houses have been destroyed and millions have been damaged. Over 1,200 have died so far.

The Truth Social headquarters in Sarasota, Florida is closed. There is nobody there — no sign, no receptionist, no CEO Devin Nunes, no “TRUMP” anywhere in the building.

After President Biden identified the traitors within the GOP as “MAGA Republicans,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called some of them out by name from the podium in the press room: Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Governor Ron DeSantis. She slapped them for encouraging violence towards federal officials. She referred to people who voted for Trump as “a threat to our democracy, to our freedom, to our rights.” This was a bold and calculated move because now Fox will make a big deal out of it which is part of the plan. The Biden administration is not ignoring or dismissing those who have brought us to this dangerous point. Call it what it is. Call them what they are. The nuts are being pushed back towards the rocks they crawled out from under. Biden is giving his old friends, (the “good Republicans”) one last chance to jump ship. Don’t want to be called a fascist? Then you better jump. NOW. Since Fox’s audience doesn’t listen to anything but Fox, insulting them from the podium is the only way for the Biden administration to get their message out to them. Let Ingraham, Tucker and Hannity’s outrage over Biden calling them semi-fascists be the slap in the face they all deserve.
