Socialist Republicans

Republicans are asking President Biden for money made available to them via his $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. He’s not going to do what Trump did and punish them by denying them federal aid just because they don’t like him and made fools of themselves by accusing him of being a socialist for signing it. In fact, Biden specifically directed his administration not to let politics and the many no votes on the bill influence how project grants are awarded. He’s calling their hypocrisy out, though. They not only voted no on new bridges and roads for their states and districts, they exploited the opportunity to get media attention so they could pound their chests and call it wasteful spending, government over reach, radical and socialist! “I was surprised to see so many socialists in the Republican caucus,” Biden said.

Socialist Republicans.

The White House tweeted out copies of letters from some of the biggest jerks in the GOP who voted no but now want their money. Some of them are in tight re-election races (María Elvira Salazar from Florida sent 2 letters and David Valadao from California sent 5). Tom Emmer from Minnesota shouldn’t have a problem getting re-elected (he’s the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee) even though he’s a Republican socialist. In his letter he called the improvements made in Minnesota a “social justice” issue. A socialist Republican calls for social justice? WTF? Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama wrote letters too. Rand Paul is an even bigger hypocrite than the rest of the GOP caucus because he’s a libertarian and they don’t think we need government at all. Nevertheless the socialist libertarian has written 10 letters so far, and he’s waiting for his handout. One of his projects is for revitalizing an IRS facility. Libertarians supposedly hate the IRS and see no need for it. One of his other projects should improve air quality. Libertarians don’t give a shit about clean air. It’s every white man for himself. Go breathe your own air. Stay away from my air. I earned my air. Tommy Tuberville went on a racist rant when he spoke at Trump’s MAGA rally in Nevada yesterday. He told the crowd that Democrats are “not soft on crime. They’re pro-crime. They want crime. They want crime because they want to take over what you got. They want to control what you have. They want reparations because they think the people that do the crime are owed that. Bullshit! They are not owed that!” Paul Gosar of Arizona and Andy Barr of Kentucky have both written 3 letters so far and Ashley Hinson from Iowa has written 7 letters. Lauren Boebert called the bill “garbage” and then asked for $33 million for a new bridge in Colorado. Other socialist Republicans who all voted no but now say yes are Senators Mike Rounds of South Dakota, John Thune of South Dakota, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, Richard Shelby of Alabama, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee (she has written 9 letters so far). House members are Mariannette Miller-Meeks from Iowa, Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Jerry Carl of Alabama, Jim Comer of Kentucky, John Rutherford of Florida, Mark Amodei of Nevada, John Joyce of Pennsylvania, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington, Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota, Trent Kelly of Mississippi, Randy Feenstra of Iowa, Tom McClintock of California, Debbie Lesko of Arizona, Julia Letlow of Louisiana, and Darin LaHood of Illinois. They will not only take credit for the left wing, socialist, radical, liberal improvements in their districts and states, they probably eat babies too.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who oversees all of the grants said, “We’re not going to be trying to be jerks about it. We’re also not going to be shy about folks knowing who was with us and who was against us. We’re obviously not going to penalize anybody for the shortsightedness of their politicians.”

While the White House was tweeting out the hypocrisy of the Republicans for not voting for the infrastructure bill, they plugged Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, reminding people that it “lowers costs for families, creates good-paying jobs, tackles the climate crisis, reduces the deficit, and makes our tax code fairer, all things that the Republicans DO NOT WANT. “Congressional Republicans have said their number one economic priority is to repeal this law,” Biden said.

Another great new jobs report — 263,000 jobs were added last month and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5%, surpassing what economists expected. The Hispanic jobless rate has fallen from 8.6% during Trump’s last horrible month in office to 3.8% now. The Black jobless rate went from 9.2% to 5.8%. Will Socialist Republicans take credit for that too? Or will they ignore the good news like they ignore Hispanics and Blacks?

Independents might understand that Republicans labeling infrastructure as socialist and then taking credit for it is hypocritical and shitty, but the idiots who believe that anything is socialist if the Republicans say it is won’t. They don’t get that their street, kid’s school, the fire department and the library are all “socialist” too. They’ll keep on ranting about Joe Biden and the Democrats being socialists because it makes them feel smart.

“Why are Democratic candidates being asked if they are socialists? I have yet to hear a Republican being questioned about whether he or she is a fascist.” — Janet Johnson

It’s been 21 months since Trump’s failed coup and his co-conspirators are not only still in Congress, they’re running for re-election and asking for handouts from the federal government, just like a bunch of free loading, baby eating socialists.
