Status Quo Low

Mitch McConnell said it. Black people aren’t real Americans even if they can trace their DNA back to the founding fathers.

As expected, Republicans in the Senate stuck it to the majority of Americans by voting no on protecting them from them making it really hard for them to vote. This pleased Mitch McConnell. He came out to the press podium flanked by yes men and said it was a great day. He thanked Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema by name.

“I think it’s pretty safe to say this is the biggest day in the history of the Senate because we’re dealing with the Senate as an institution. These radicals on the other side, in order to get their own way, are prepared to break the United States Senate.”

The Senate is already broken. Mitch McConnell broke it.

Then he said the quiet part out loud. He said there isn’t anything fishy going on at the state level to warrant the Democrats’ claims. Black people have nothing to complain about. Their concerns about voter suppression are misplaced. “If you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans.”

Mitch McConnell admitted out loud that African Americans aren’t real Americans. How Dred Scott of him.

Mitch McConnell fixed it so the Democrats couldn’t filibuster him turning the Supreme Court into an extreme (white) right wing court so the status quo could be protected if Black people made trouble.

“It’s beyond infuriating that Mitch McConnell can kill filibuster to confirm 3 Supreme Court justices for Trump with 51 votes to take away voting rights but it requires 60 votes for US Senate to protect voting rights.” — Ari Berman

The “good” Republicans who get insulted if anyone accuses them of being racist argued for the preservation of “the rules” even though they have no problem suspending the rules when the status quo isn’t threatened.

The asshole Republicans made threats. John Cornyn used a display board that listed all of the things that the Republicans will do to screw the Democrats once they control the Senate. John Thune threatened the Dems with retaliation once they get power. James Lankford said the John R. Lewis Act is “not about voting rights, it’s about power.” Power for who?

Ron Johnson stupidly put this tweet out and it backfired big time. “Do you want to IMPLODE the filibuster so the Dems can RAM their voting rights legislation through Congress?” 96% wanted to protect voting rights and 4% wanted to protect Republicans.

If Republican senators actually represented everybody in their states they couldn’t vote to restrict their rights. They just proved that they don’t represent everybody, just somebodies.

“Republican Senators keep reciting the part of the Constitution that says states set voting rules but they stop reading the clause halfway through so they don’t have to say the second half: ‘but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations’”. — Senator Chris Murphy

Democrat Jeff Merkley went for it. He said that Republicans are “supporting a racist strategy” by supporting bills that restrict ballot access. “It’s incredibly racial, despite my colleagues saying they’re not racist.”

“Me? Racist? How dare you!”

If people keep voting for Republicans this is what we’ll get. If people blow off voting this is what we’ll get.

In other news, here’s what up with the Trumps:

After 8 months in hiding, Ivanka called the media and told them to meet her up in Rochester, New York to cover her giving out free food because she thinks that it will help her image before she has to go on her Testify Tour.

The New York attorney general, Letitia James has filed court documents requesting Trump and two of his children be questioned under oath because investigators have found the Trump Organization repeatedly engaged in “fraudulent or misleading” practices.

Eric Trump was interviewed by the New York AG for 6 hours and he pleaded the fifth 500 times.

The Supreme Court ruled that it wouldn’t let Trump get away with not letting the Select Committee see hundreds of pages of his White House records. The National Archives is free now to hand over call logs, notes and other records. Ginny Thomas’ husband, Clarence was the only one who voted to protect Trump. More on Ginny later.

Today is the first year anniversary of Biden being sworn in to clean up a national disaster and all the media will say about him is he isn’t popular, he’s failing, and hasn’t delivered on all of his promises. They won’t do a retrospect of his historical achievements because that doesn’t match the Republican narrative which they are slaves to.
