Terrorists, Thugs and Pigs
Republicans made modern day history by holding one of their own accountable. The attorney general of Texas, Ken Paxton, has been impeached and suspended. The vote was 121–23. Now it goes to the Senate for a trial on charges of bribery, abuse of office, and obstruction. The last time this happened was in 1975.
While the House of Representatives debated, Paxton called and threatened those who were going to vote for impeachment with political ruin. Trump and Ted Cruz voiced their support and criticized any Republicans that attempted to hold him accountable. Trump posted on Truth Social that he’d fight them if they go through with it.
The day before he was impeached, Paxton called on his supporters to peacefully protest for him at the state capital. If anybody showed up it didn’t make the news.
The Texas state leadership has been complicit in Paxton’s corruption — this impeachment comes almost 8 years too late. Why did legislators throw Paxton under the bus now? He faces 2 counts of securities fraud and 1 count of failing to register with state securities regulators. Four former staffers accused him of corruption so the FBI is investigating him for abuse of power and bribery. He tried to use $3.3 million in taxpayer money to pay the 4 whistle blowers. He led an effort of state attorneys general to overturn the 2020 election and had to appear before the licensing board. He’s under investigation from the Texas Bar. He’s under indictment for state charges as well. He was impeached on 20 charges.
Ken Paxton attended meetings in the White House before the insurrection. He spoke at the Stop the Steal rally. 2/3 of the Republican caucus signed on to his demand to overturn the election. He asked for a pardon but didn’t get it.
Paxton is co-chair of Lawyers for Trump. He filed 16 voter suppression lawsuits in 2020. He admitted that if he hadn’t been successful in blocking mail-in ballots Trump would have lost Texas.

Republican legislators are as bad as Paxton. They made women in need of abortions criminals and put bounties on the heads of women who sought to get one. They’ve made it legal to take trans kids out of their homes and passed a bill banning transgender medical care for minors. They made it so anybody at anytime can get whatever guns they want without restrictions. They’re trying to force their version of Christianity on all the schools and want preachers to teach instead of teachers. Texas is an apartheid state ruled by Republican white men over a Latino majority. It’s the most voter suppressed state in the country.
“Stop the Bleed” kits are being installed on school interior walls like fire alarms. Instead of outlawing AR-15s, schools can provide little kids with these kits so they can try to save the lives of their friends after they’re shot. That in itself is emotional trauma. Kids are being needlessly traumatized because Republicans don’t care about the long-term suffering and damage kids are forced to endure, if they’re lucky enough not to be shot and killed at school. This is fucking insane. Ban assault weapons.

Biden struck a deal with Kevin McCarthy on the debt ceiling to avoid default. Now Kevin has to deal with the MAGA Republicans who want to crash the economy and have the power to vote him out as speaker if they don’t get that very thing.

Today he posted: HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL, BUT ESPECIALY TO THOSE WHO GAVE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE FOR THE COUNTRY THEY LOVE, AND TO THOSE IN LINE OF A VERY DIFFERENT, BUT EQUALLY DANGEROUS FIRE, STOPPING THE THREATS OF THE TERRORISTS, MISFITS AND LUNATIC THUGS WHO ARE WORKING FEVERISHLY FROM WITHIN TO OVERTURN AND DESTROY OUR ONCE GREAT COUNTRY, WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN IN GREATER PERIL THAN IT IS RIGHT NOW.
