The Answer is Know

The week began with the President of the United States addressing the nation to reassure depositors at Silicon Valley Bank that their money is safe three days after the news broke that the bank had failed. It lends to all the startups in Silicon Valley. This is one more example of a Democratic president having to clean up shit left by a Republican president. Biden said, “During the Obama administration, we put in place tough requirements on banks like Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, including the Dodd-Frank law to make sure that the crisis we saw in 2008 would not happen again. Unfortunately, the last administration rolled back some of these requirements.”

Trump bragged about rolling back regulations in 2018. Until he stopped them, there were regulators at Silicon Valley Bank. Then the bank lobbied Congress to remove the guardrails designed to prevent this kind of crisis from happening in the first place. This is why rich capitalists vote for Republicans. Republicans make laws and policy that let rich capitalists get away with whatever they want. They hate Democrats because they make laws and policy that restrict what they can do. Democrats tell the rich and powerful no. The Democrats are for the little guy, savings accounts, payroll checks, mortgages, and for the little guy getting to be in the know.

This is the second biggest bank failure in US history. The last time a bank failed was in 2008 and the feds had to bail the banks out. None of the bankers who caused it went to jail. People lost their homes and savings. Obama fixed it. Then Trump unfixed it so here we go again but this time, the feds aren’t going to bail the investors out. Biden said this morning, “They knowingly took a risk and when the risk didn’t pay off, investors lose their money. That’s how capitalism works.”

Silicon Valley Bank big shot executive Joseph Gentile was at Lehman Brothers CFO prior to the bank collapse in 2008. He suffered no consequence for people losing their homes, retirement and savings.

Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker cashed out $2 million just before the collapse. Who else was in the know and pulled their millions out? Depositors and the general public would really like to know.

While cooler heads are reassuring the public that they don’t need to rush and pull their money out of their banks, Fox News is blatantly rooting for a run on banks so it will make Joe Biden look bad.

The judge in the E. Jean Carroll case against Trump ruled that 2 more women who say they were sexually assaulted by Trump can be witnesses in the defamation case trial plus the Access Hollywood “grab ’em by the pussy” tape can be played in front of the jury as evidence. The trial starts in April. Americans aren’t shocked much by the former president going to trial over past rape allegations, or that he was caught on tape bragging about sexual assault, or that he is more than likely going to be indicted for paying off a porn star for having her spank him with a copy of a magazine with his face on the cover. Americans are in the know when it comes to some of a former president’s sex crimes and secrets, but it’s no big deal. We are used to it. This is who we are now.

James Comer, Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter which was also signed by Marjorie Taylor Greene, to the mayor of DC wanting to know more about the “political prisoners” (January 6 detainees). They are also asking for access to their jail facilities.

A woman in Iowa won the internet over the weekend after a photo of her gift to Ron DeSantis, who was there kissing up to Republican voters in Iowa before announcing he’s running for president, went viral. It’s a framed paper snowflake that very discretely spells out “fascist” on each side of the snowflake. She gave one to the governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, and Iowa US senator, Chuck Grassley, too. She got a selfie with Chuck holding his snowflake wearing a shirt that said, “Sorry about Charles Grassley.”

Fox and Friends’ Brian Kilmeade and Ron DeSantis played catch in suits while Kilmeade conducted a softball interview. American snowflakes would like to know, which one is the man?

Mike Pence made a speech at the annual Gridiron dinner in Washington. He called Trump out for the first time publicly, in front of a room full of journalists. “President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable.” He also said that the American people had a right to know what took place at the Capitol on January 6. “Make no mistake about it, what happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way.” So now, 2 years and 2 months later, Pence says that what happened on January 6 was wrong and Trump is responsible, but he refuses to testify to the DOJ. He’s fighting his subpoena in court. Mike Pence did one good thing in 4 years — he wouldn’t go along with Trump’s final grift on January 6, 2020. He did the right thing but is refusing to answer questions about doing the right thing. So now he’s doing the wrong thing about the only right thing he did during the Trump administration. He better testify. The American people have a right to know what he knows.
