The Audacity
On the same day that more texts were made public from the Dominion case of Tucker Carlson trashing Trump and admitting to lying to his audience about the election, he had the audacity to build his show around cherry picked clips from the Capitol Police security footage that the shittiest Speaker in history gave him to keep the Big Lie going. He actually told his viewers that what happened that day was peaceful tourists got caught up in some trouble that a group of hooligans started. Thousands of people showed up at the Capitol from around the country for a tour during a deadly pandemic that had already killed 400,000 Americans by then? THE CAPITOL WAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC THAT DAY. While his employer is in the midst of a $1.6 billion lawsuit for defamation Tucker Carlson actually doubled down by saying, “In retrospect, it is clear the 2020 election was a grave betrayal of American democracy given the facts that have since emerged about that election. No honest person can deny it.”
“Very bold of Fox to go with the ‘We’re not even a little bit sorry and we intend to continue defaming the plaintiff no matter what damages the court assesses’ litigation strategy.” — David Frum
When confronted about what Tucker did with the video he gave him, Kevin McCarthy said he didn’t see Tucker’s show so he couldn’t comment but what about CNN? He had the audacity to make this statement while standing right outside of the Speaker’s office that had been broken into and trashed by rioters who were also running through the halls calling for Nancy Pelosi’s assassination. He stood there all smug and full of himself (Look at me! I’m the Speaker! I’m the Speaker!) and smiled when he said, “Each person can come up with their own conclusion” about January 6.
Hell froze over when Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis went on the record for saying Tucker Carlson is full of shit for trying to minimize and rewrite the story of January 6.
Here are some of the texts that were released while Tucker was retelling the worst day in American history:
January 4, 2021: “We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait. I hate him passionately.”
“We’re all pretending we’ve got a lot to show for it, because admitting what a disaster it’s been is too tough to digest. But come on. There really isn’t an upside to Trump.”
“What he’s good at is destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that. He could easily destroy us if we play it wrong. It’s so obvious.”
Since Fox News viewers don’t listen to anybody by Fox, they won’t ever know what Tucker really thinks of Trump and the insurrection.
Congresswoman Norma Torres from California was disgusted by Tucker Carlson’s audacity. “The speaker’s decision to hand over sensitive security footage to a conspiracy theorist is appalling. On January 6th, I was face down with my colleagues in the House Chamber, praying we would get out alive”
This is still all a game to Fox.
Fox News fun fact: Fox has been played in military hospitals, pharmacies, gyms, food courts, and in private residences via the Armed Forces Network for 20 years. State sponsored propaganda force fed to our military for an entire generation.
In other news, attendants at CPAC took a straw poll to see who should be Trump’s VP and Kari Lake won but she said she couldn’t do it because she’s already the governor of Arizona, James Comer, chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said it was a MISTAKE that Trump didn’t launch missiles into Mexico to bomb meth labs, the former president congratulated a former member of his administration (Kellyanne Conway) on the destruction of her marriage and called her husband (George) a wacko and disgusting albatross around her neck, then called for the January 6 prisoners to be freed, and Confederate flag carrying insurrectionist Kevin Seefried asked the judge to delay the beginning of his prison sentence so he could go to his grandson’s birthday party.
The audacity.
