The Book of White Nationalism
Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, used tax payer money to fly 50 hungry, tired migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard to……what? What point is he trying to make other than he’s up for re-election and he wants the racist, immigrant hating vote? His stunt backfired after the residents of Martha’s Vineyard did the Christian thing and took the strangers in, gave them food, set up beds for them in a church and offered them friendship. He flew them out of Texas after they arrived from Venezuela. He tricked them by telling them that they were going to Boston to expedite their paper work. Florida shares borders with Georgia and Alabama. What business is this of his? DeSantis also sent his national guard troops to the Texas border during Trump’s racist campaign to scare the crap out of MAGAs, making them think that thousands and thousands of immigrants were coming in caravans to INVADE us. His buddy, Greg Abbott, Republican governor of Texas, has been producing the same kind of political theatre by spending $12 million on bussing immigrants to Washington DC and New York City to dump them there, sending Democrats the message that these people are not his problem. So far, he has transported more than 9,000 Spanish-speaking brown people to blue cities. One bus unloaded a group out in front of Vice President Kamala Harris’ house which the MAGA Republicans thought was really funny.
Ron DeSantis is running against Charlie Crist (who has already been governor of Florida when he was a Republican) but he refuses to debate him. He doesn’t have to argue policies and ideas with anyone if all he’s going after is the racist hate vote. Racists and haters don’t care about policies and ideas either. When asked if he was going to try and compete for the MAGA Republican vote, Crist said no way. He doesn’t want to have anything to do with the hate vote. Let DeSantis keep them. After he hugged Barack Obama, the first Black president, on stage during an official visit in 2009 when he was governor, Senator Marco Rubio and many other Republicans used that gesture as evidence that he wasn’t a real Republican.
Florida has other problems other than a white supremacist governor. It has a serious teacher shortage because many teachers aren’t willing to teach a white supremacist curriculum so they have left their profession. An elementary school teacher in Pensacola called it quits after a district employee took down her classroom posters of Harriett Tubman and Barack Obama. The reason? They weren’t “age appropriate.”
The white supremacist Republican governor of Mississippi, Tate Reeves, claims that teachers are humiliating white kids by making them come to the front of the class to denounce their race. “Children are dragged to the front of the classroom and are coerced to declare themselves as oppressors, that that they should feel guilty because of the color of their skin.” Mississippi is home to the most egregious of hate crimes towards Black people and has the worst record of Jim Crow. Students in Mississippi should be taught all about that just like generations of kids in Germany are being taught about Hitler and the Nazis.
The former Republican Governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, is in big trouble now for ripping off the poor people of his state by channeling $70 million in welfare funds to former NFL star and MAGA Republican Brett Favre (who made $140 million playing quarterback in the NFL for 20 years) for speeches he never made and another $5 million to build a new volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi, where Favre’s daughter played the sport. The same party that started the “welfare queen” slur to demean and target poor Black people is ripping off poor Black people so they can live like kings and queens.
State senator Doug Mastriano who is running for governor of Pennsylvania wore the confederate uniform in a group photo in Gettysburg, which is in his district. He’s a MAGA Republican who sponsored a bus to the insurrection and attended himself. He’s a hardcore white supremacist who not only believes that whites are superior, he believes that everybody who isn’t white shouldn’t exist. He says Jews should not be allowed in the Republican party. His opponent, Josh Shapiro, is a Jewish Democrat.
Today, September 15, is the 59th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The KKK bombed Black people on Sunday morning while they were worshipping in church and killed 4 young girls: Addie Mae Collins (14), Cynthia Wesley (14), Carole Robertson (14) and Carol Denise McNair (11). Their limbs were blown off for their families, neighbors and church friends to see.
Robert Keith Packer, the MAGA insurrectionist who became famous for wearing the “CAMP AUSCHWITZ STAFF” sweatshirt gets sentenced today. His sister asked the court not to “judge a book by its cover.”
We can judge that book by its cover because we know how it ends. The first country the Nazis invaded was Germany. Just sayin’.
