The Clarence Thomas Court

A federal judge in Florida sanctioned Trump and his attorneys and demanded they pay nearly $1 million for abusing the court system for political purposes, the most recent being filing a frivolous RICO suit against Hillary Clinton. The judge said, “Mr. Trump is a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries. He is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process.”

Justice Roberts released the Supreme Court’s report on the investigation into who leaked Justice Alito’s draft opinion on Dobbs (that reversed Roe v Wade) but it didn’t come up with anything. It’s 20 pages long. 97 employees gave 126 interviews. The marshall of the Supreme Court did the investigation. She has no law enforcement training. Her job is to “secure” the building and her boss is the court that commissioned the report. Court employees and law clerks were questioned but the justices were not. Someone stole government documents which is a crime. The FBI should have been called in to run the investigation, but it wasn’t because they know who did it but they don’t want to know. Roberts said the leak changed the atmosphere of the court. Mutual trust and secrecy has been the way justices have conducted themselves for forever. They police themselves. There is no code of ethics for the court.

This leak isn’t what “changed the atmosphere” of the court. The atmosphere started changing quite a while ago. The court has a 25% approval rating (the lowest in history) because the Roberts Court gutted the Voting Rights Act which made it way harder for Black people and Democrats to vote, it passed Citizens United and overturned laws restricting money in politics and made rich people very powerful by giving their money first amendment rights, and stripped half of the population of their constitutional rights by overturning Roe v Wade, giving states the power to force women to give birth and jailing them if they terminate a pregnancy. This court cares nothing about precedent or public demand. The three justices that Trump appointed come from the Federalist Society which has made the Roberts Court the most politicized court in history, and thus the most reviled.

The Supreme Court is not only the most corrupt and loathed court in history, it’s also the slowest. It has never been so slow. It’s been three months since they heard cases and there haven’t been any rulings nor have they have offered an explanation. Could the radicals be preoccupied with covering their butts? Could Kavanaugh be on a bender? Could Coney Barrett and Alito be too busy with 6 figure speaking engagements and book deals? Is Clarence Thomas’s mind elsewhere because he and his wife are under investigation? Has Roberts totally given up?

SCOTUS justices see themselves as American nobility. They are self-governing and all powerful. They play by their own rules and are accountable to no one. They don’t enforce their own rules because they police themselves. They don’t have a boss. The only way to get rid of any of them is through impeachment which the Republicans would block. Justices socialize with people involved in cases they are scheduled to hear. They are lobbied. The radical Republicans pray on the job and whine in public about not being respected.

The Republican party has a higher approval rating than the Supreme Court, that’s how bad it is. People don’t understand how things work so they don’t pay much attention which conservative justices use to their advantage.

A majority of justices were chosen by presidents who didn’t get the majority of the popular vote. White conservative Catholic men are overrepresented on the court. Four of them lied about Roe v Wade during their confirmation hearings. Justice Kennedy, whose son was Trump’s banker at Deutsch Bank, retired to make room for Kavanaugh. A third of the court was appointed by a man who is being investigated by the FBI for attempting a coup and violating the Espionage Act. If tried and found guilty, all of his Supreme Court picks should automatically be removed and replaced.

Republicans “changed the atmosphere of the court.” It’s as corrupt as the hell they believe everyone is going to except them.

Since there are no ethics rules for the Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas doesn’t have to recuse himself from ruling on anything involving his insurrectionist wife, Ginni.

Ginni Thomas was very active in the Tea Party when Republicans tried to take down Obama and Obamacare. She has been a far-right political activist for her entire adult life and has her own political consulting firm. There is evidence that she helped plan the insurrection in texts that she sent back and forth to Mark Meadows where she not only gives him direction and asks for updates, but confirms that her “best friend” (husband) was prepared to assist. She attended the Stop the Steal rally. She was subpoenaed by the Select Committee to testify about her involvement. Prior to that her husband Clarence was the only member of the court who voted with Trump to keep the House Select Committee from getting January 6th documents which was an obvious conflict of interest and very suspicious.

Ginni emailed back and forth with John Eastman, Trump’s lawyer who cooked up the fake electors plan and one of her husband’s former clerks. She pressured lawmakers in Arizona and Georgia to throw out Biden’s win in 2020 and create “a clean slate of electors.” They tossed around the idea of creating enough fear and chaos before the insurrection that the Supreme Court would have to get involved. They thought it “more favorable if the justices start to fear that there will be ‘wild’ chaos on January 6.” Eastman told Trump campaign officials about a heated fight between justices not based on the legal merits of the situation but on political will which means the court had to have known something was up. Trump’s counsel had inside knowledge of SCOTUS debates. Ginni Thomas appeared to have been the leaker. Very sloppy coup attempt. John Eastman accidentally sent a Dropbox link to the Select Committee that had emails that talked about getting Justice Clarence Thomas involved in the insurrection. They didn’t want legal remedy from Thomas. They just wanted to cast doubt in the electoral process so states would be able to get involved.

The John Roberts Court is the Clarence Thomas Court. He sat there for 30 years, saying very little, waiting for this moment.
