The End of Roe v Wade

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, taking constitutional rights away from half the population for the first time in history. They released their ruling on a Friday so they could skip town and hide from the public. 75% of Americans do not think that abortion should be illegal.

As soon as it was announced, 9 states with trigger laws made abortion a crime: Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Utah. Idaho, Mississippi, North Dakota, Tennessee, and Wyoming. Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, Ohio and South Carolina are next.

The Arkansas Department of Health sent Planned Parenthood notifying them to halt abortions or they could go to jail for 10 years and pay a $100,000 fine.

The decision has ushered in a new era of really big government. The state is now in control of how many children a woman will have, when she will have them and with whom. The court has taken us back 150 years to a time when the only people who had rights were white, straight, property owning Christian men. Gay marriage, gay “intimacy” and birth control are next. Clarence Thomas flat out said it in his concurring separate opinion. Inter-racial marriage should be on that list too because that was illegal 150 years ago but because he is all powerful and married to a white woman who should be in jail for trying to overturn the government, it isn’t.

The Federalist Society justices are citing the ratification of the 14th Amendment in 1868 as justification for what they’ve done. This amendment gave formerly enslaved Africans and anybody BORN in America citizenship status. By making fetuses actual people, they can bestow constitutional rights on them. That’s their rationale and it opens the door for all kinds of trouble. Now that an embryo is a citizen, what other rights are they entitled to?

Embryos and AR-15s have more rights than women do in America.

91% of the senators who confirmed the 5 Federalist Society justices responsible for overturning Roe v Wade were men. White, powerful, property-owning men gave these radicals the power to take constitutional rights from citizens. Now daughters have less rights than their mothers and grandmothers.

People descended on the Supreme Court immediately. Most were there to protest the decision. They were furious, inconsolable, and terrified. Capitol Police were there in full force decked out in riot gear. It was intense for everybody there but the small group that saw the decision as good news. They were there dancing and celebrating.

Lots of lives were forced into a different, unwanted direction within minutes yesterday. Thousands of women were forced into an unwelcomed, unplanned life course change.

Democrats expressed their fury. Speaker Pelosi called the “radical Supreme Court” out for what they did, and specifically mentioned the Trump-appointed justices for lying during their confirmation hearings. President Biden made a speech and talked about how he had been in on many confirmation hearings as a senator and the topic of Roe v Wade always came up because it was that important. He said the court got it wrong and made a call to action: Everybody must vote for Democrats in November because the only way out of this is by making a federal law that legalizes abortion. That will never happen unless more Democrats are elected — in the Senate to break the filibuster, in the House to hold control, and in state governments so laws that outlaw abortion can not be made and if they already are, they can be reversed. Better yet, ratify the state constitutions to legalize abortion. He can’t do anything about this with executive order. Vice President Kamala Harris denounced the ruling as did Attorney General Merrick Garland.

New York’s attorney general, Letitia James was pissed. She too called the court and Republicans out and announced that New York state had a fund that pays for travel, lodging and childcare for women who live in Republican controlled states to go to New York to get a safe, legal abortion. Governor Gavin Newsom said the same thing about California.

The 13 year old girls who got raped yesterday, the day that Roe v Wade was overturned, who end up getting pregnant didn’t get pregnant by a gay man or a trans person, the most hated people by the Republicans, but by their pastors and fathers.

Teenagers will be forced to give birth to their siblings after being impregnated by their fathers.

Teenagers won’t be able to finish high school and college. Grandparents will have to raise their teenager’s kids.

Sexually active women and girls who have been sexually assaulted will pay the price and will be punished for a “crime” that took two people to “commit” but the other party will face no consequences. Males aren’t held to the same standard as females. If the fertilized egg is sacred why isn’t the sperm?

Women will die from ectopic pregnancies and home abortions. Complicated natural miscarriages could lead to death without medical assistance to expel the dead tissue.

Women who really wanted to get pregnant but find out that their baby had no brain will be forced to carry it to term just so it can die as soon as it’s born.

Poor, single women will be forced to have babies they don’t want and cannot afford. An added child worsens the burden of poverty for both the woman and child when the mother is expected to clothe and feed a baby without any help from the government who forced her to have the baby in the first place.

Women whose birth control failed will be forced to alter their entire lives to accommodate the state’s offspring. There goes the career. Since the guy bears no legal responsibility for this error, he can take off and leave her to deal with it all on her own. If he’s a decent person, he will commit to helping raise the child even if that only means financially. That means the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v Wade effects men too. Child support or getting married when that wasn’t in the plan will alter men’s lives dramatically as well.

Miscarriages will be viewed as potential crimes. A woman’s personal medical records will be open for public inspection. She can be investigated for legal liability if she miscarries. Women won’t be able to trust their doctors.

Women should delete their period tracking apps because now their menstrual cycles are the government’s business.

Doctors who go ahead and perform abortions will be jailed for murder if they get caught removing a growing mass from a uterus that has no actual heart or functioning brain and can’t exist outside of the uterus because it’s not actually a person yet.

Overturning Roe v Wade is the most infamous ruling in SCOTUS history and the Federalist Court is just getting started.

Justice Sotomayor said that half of the population is no longer free and equal.

Thanks to Trump, the Supreme Court just grabbed women by the pussy.
