The Indicted Candidate
Trump has been indicted on at least 7 federal charges including illegal retention of classified documents, obstruction of justice, destruction or falsification of records, and conspiracy — a maximum penalty of 100 years in prison. He must appear at a federal courthouse in Miami on Tuesday for arraignment. The indictment will be unsealed then. The case will be tried in Florida and US district court judge Aileen Cannon, the judge who was so friendly to Trump during the document fight at the beginning of this whole ordeal and had to be replaced, has been assigned to this case. That shouldn’t last long. Trump’s two attorneys, John Rowley and Jim Trusty (who went on CNN last night and blabbed about what was in a summons they got), have resigned and New York attorney Todd Blanche is taking over. No one knows what firm he is with.
Trump will file preliminary motions to try and get the indictment dismissed. He won’t get far with the 11th circuit because they’re on to his tricks. They have already been through his delay tactics. He has already had two cases go up to the 11th district and they didn’t side with him.
Trump, as usual, announced the news on Truth Social before the DOJ did. He does this in order to get ahead of the bad news so he can shape the narrative in his favor. He said that the Biden administration indicted him. Biden has nothing to do with this. In fact, the White House has had no comment and won’t be commenting. They’re staying out of this. 17 minutes after he announced he had been indicted, he sent out a fundraising email. Ted Cruz sent one too.
The Sedition Caucus, MAGA Republicans, and Fox News are up in arms about the announcement and blame the DOJ for the witch hunt, even before seeing the indictment or knowing any facts. They call it a sad day in America that Trump has been set up like this. The country is being torn apart. It’s political persecution!
The country has already been torn apart. By Trump. And them.
MAGA Republican Congressman Andy Biggs, who is in deep in the plot to overthrow the government, called for Biden to be impeached.
The only Republican who hasn’t defended Trump is Mitt Romney, once again. He released a statement this morning that said that the DOJ gave Trump many opportunities to avoid this outcome and so he brought this all on himself.
Trump has been indicted and impeached twice. His company has been convicted. His CFO has gone to jail for him. His lawyer has gone to jail for him. His campaign chair, chief strategist, and national security adviser have been convicted. Trump is the most corrupt president in history and he could very well be the Republican nominee again.
Trump will be campaigning for president while under a minimum of two indictments. Fulton County could announce indictments in about 6 weeks and the January 6 investigation is going on so there could be more. He could go to jail while campaigning and people will still vote for him.
