Brett Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court in a highly publicized prime time reality TV announcement, on the 150th Anniversary of the 14th Amendment which gave citizenship rights to slaves after the Civil War. Ultra conservative Kavanaugh will have the power to take citizenship rights away from people. He most likely will.
Trump got his name off of the Federalist Society’s list, the handmaid’s tale, super right wing, sew your vaginas up, Jesus is watching you, gatekeeper for right wing lawyers aspiring to government jobs and federal judgeships under Republican presidents. They hand picked Neil Gorsuch.
There are 200 Federalist Society chapters across the country. Members never criticize Trump and have given him a pass on all of the bold face assaults he has made against the constitution. All they care about is getting as many conservative judges seated on as many benches as possible before Trump is gone. A couple of months ago members participated in a phone meeting entitled “Examining the Legality of the Mueller Investigation.” One of the invited speakers argued that the Mueller investigation is unconstitutional.
Federalist Society executive vice president Leonard Leo said, “What President Trump has done with judicial selection and appointments is probably at the very center of his legacy, and may well be his greatest accomplishment thus far.”
Brett Kavanaugh worked for George W. Bush’s Florida recount team. Before that, he investigated Vince Foster, Bill Clinton’s former Deputy White House Counsel and friend who killed himself. The Republicans said the Clintons murdered him. He helped write the Starr Report which eventually led to Clinton being forced to answer questions about his sex life under oath. He has since argued that a sitting president shouldn’t be burdened by lawsuits, criminal investigations, or indictments, which is why he was chosen. He’ll make sure Trump isn’t burdened by Mueller.
Trump’s Supreme Court pick opposes preexisting condition protections, and is not only a critic of women having the right to a safe, legal abortion but he opposes access to contraception as well. Oh and he’s a gun nut.
Justice Kennedy has been meeting with the Trump team for months getting this lined up. Kavanaugh is his former law clerk.
Republican hypocrite fun fact: Mitch McConnell says Trump’s Supreme Court nominee deserves fair consideration, respect and dignity. He also said, “The American people deserve to have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice” in 2016 when he blocked Merrick Garland from ever getting a hearing.
“I wasn’t even that crazy about Kavanaugh until I saw the Left’s simply ludicrous response. He’s growing on me” tweeted Erielle Davidson. Erielle is a contributor for the Federalist. She has a B.A. in Russian with a specific focus on Eastern European politics. She has researched and written extensively on the geopolitical implications of terrorism in Putin’s Russia.
On his way out the White House door this morning, before heading off to Europe where the British hate him as much as we do, he trashed NATO and the EU and said Putin “may be the easiest” meeting he has during the trip.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to protest Trump in the streets of London. They’re going to fly a big orange Trump baby balloon over the crowd because they say he’s a thin skinned orange baby.
In Willowbrook, California, A 91 real old Mexican grandpa visiting family was attacked by a group of people with a concrete block while going for a walk on the Fourth of July. They screamed, “Go back to your country!” He suffered a broken jaw, broken cheekbones, two broken ribs and bruises on his face, back and abdomen.
