Trump’s First Presidency in Summary
Now that Trump is back for another four years, take a little time and review what he put us through the first four years:
2017
Trump’s presidency started off with a worldwide protest led by women. His first inauguration was the most expensive (pay to play which resulted in an investigation for rich people and other governments giving him wads of cash that went into the inaugural fund that he used to profit from) but it was the dinkiest inauguration in history. The first big gaslighting attempt happened when he made his press guy, Sean Spicer, go into the press room and yell at everybody that his was the largest inauguration in history. Period. He couldn’t get any big name celebrities to play for inauguration and the only people he could get to march in his inaugural parade were hometown bands and cheerleading squads. People didn’t turn out for the the parade, either. It was shot with empty bleachers, right next to Trump, in frame. He immediately put a Muslim ban in place and started deporting immigrants. When Trump found out that Deputy Attorney General, Sally Yates, tried to warn the Obama administration about Russia interfering with the election, he fired her. Mike Flynn got fired just a few weeks after he was hired for lying to the FBI about his involvement with Russia. Trump fired a lot of his own people out of pettiness and incompetence. Trump shocked the world when he not only didn’t care about a foreign country interfering with our election and was friendly with Putin, but then he started flirting with Kim Jong Un, the North Korean dictator. There were massive protests and deadly riots all over the country. Hurricane Maria killed 3,000 in Puerto Rico and Trump botched aid by first not knowing that Puerto Rico was part of the United States and then by telling them they were on their own. He started a race war with the NFL. 2 out of 3 of the top worst mass shootings in US history to date (Las Vegas outdoor concert and a church in Sutherland, Texas) took place after he won. People thought the madness would end when independent counsel, Robert Mueller, was brought in to investigate Trump, Putin and Russia. He couldn’t fire Mueller so he fired the FBI director, James Comey (after trying to bribe him first) instead. The whole investigation was pretty much shelved after Trump’s attorney general, Bill Barr, got involved later on. Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign manager, got arrested. He was working for Ukraine and Russia while working on the campaign. The Republicans passed their tax bill which gave everything to the rich. Trump and the Republicans made up the “deep state” to discredit the FBI.
2018
Another huge school shooting took place in Parkland, Florida which resulted in a student led March for Our Lives march, the largest on gun violence ever, in Washington to no avail. Congress never did anything about assault weapons and the shootings continued with more frequency. Porn star Stormy Daniels came forward to say she was paid off by Trump to not mention that she’s seen him naked. Republicans shut the government down twice. Trump had DACA rescinded which scared young adults, wondering if they had to leave the only country they have ever known without their families. He got us into trade wars and more and more people resigned. Everybody was forced to sign NDAs so people didn’t tell what they knew so Trump kept criming. Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, was arrested and convicted. Trump and the Republicans made up stories that large caravans of brown migrants were barreling over the border every day, threatening our women and children. He started separating children from their parents at the border and hundreds were never reunited. The UN started investigating human rights violations in America, Jared Kushner started taking money from Qatar, Trump’s charitable foundation was shut down by the state of New York because he was using it for petty cash. Trump’s administration got caught lying about human rights abuses by forcing migrants to live in cages in camps (think Melania’s infamous “I really don’t care do U?” jacket). Justice Kennedy retired setting up a seat for Brett Kavanaugh and a disgraceful confirmation hearing where he was accused of sexual abuse — Trump intervened with the FBI investigation and he got confirmed. US senators spent the 4th of July in Moscow, the White House started kicking reporters out of the White House, Trump kept doing MAGA rallies to feed his ego and get his cult followers worked up, the New York Times published a 13 page story on tax evasion by the Trump family, Native American and Black voters had to fight voter suppression. Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by the Saudi government with Trump’s knowledge. Trump publicly declared himself a nationalist and a MAGA bomber sent bombs to Democrats. Trump sent troops to the border a week before the midterms to scare voters, a blue wave hit for the midterm elections which issued in an historical win for women. Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigned, Russian spy Maria Butina pleaded guilty and gave up information on the NRA working with Russia. General Mattis threw up his hands and resigned then Trump fired him, Trump shut down the government again for 35 days, 3 days before Christmas.
2019
Bill Barr rose to power as Attorney General to serve more as Trump’s personal attorney, Nancy Pelosi didn’t invite Trump to make a State of the Union speech, Sarah Huckabee Sanders stopped doing press briefings, the White House refused to cooperate with Congress on the Mueller investigation and people ignored subpoenas, Roger Stone got arrested, Trump declared national emergency, the redacted version of the Mueller Report was released and nobody read it, the NRA imploded, Trump threatened to have Bill Barr investigate his political rivals, Trump obstructed justice by trying to keep Congress from investigating him for obstruction of justice, he confessed on camera that he would commit crimes in order to get re-elected. Trump attended the G20 and got really chummy with Putin and Saudi Crown Prince MBS in front of the whole world then walked out on to North Korean soil at the DMZ to shake the hand of the world’s most brutal dictator on enemy soil. Trump’s billionaire friend, Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on federal charges and commited suicide in jail, taking his secrets with him. Trump’s labor secretary, Alex Acosta, resigned over his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Trump made racist attacks on 5 sitting members of Congress and incited violence and death threats. The deadliest terrorist attack on Hispanics in American history happened with a mass shooting in El Paso Texas who parroted Trump’s language. Trump got caught profiting off of the military and using military aid to bribe the Ukrainian president and got impeached. He invited the Taliban to Camp David during the anniversary week of 9/11. Trump pulled troops out of Syria and let Turkey in to kill the Kurds, Rudy Giuliani became a subject of a criminal investigation involving Ukraine and Trump. Gordon Sondland threw everybody under the bus and admitted that the whole motley crew was in the loop regarding Ukraine — other witnesses testified that Trump was a mobster that used his power as president to try and shake down another country. Republicans parrot Putin’s talking points and say that Trump was sent by God. Trump defied the chain of command to glorify and pardon war criminals.
2020
Trump delivered the state of the union address after all and Nancy Pelosi tore up his speech right behind his head while he thanked everybody. Attorney general Bill Barr handed over power of the judicial branch to Trump, giving him control of all 3 branches of government, reigning in fascism. Anyone who spoke out against Trump started getting punished. COVID spread across the world and it was worst in the US. It became the #1 cause of death in America. Trump tried to pretend like it wasn’t happening and then when he couldn’t deny it anymore he made up remedies for the virus and minimized the dangers. The country was leaderless. Medical personal were denied protective equipment like masks, gowns and gloves, states didn’t have enough ventilators and the federal government wouldn’t give them to them. MAGAs got furious with those who were charged to solve the crisis and refused all public health mandates and advice. Trump commits quid pro quos with governors of blue states offering federal aid in exchange for changes in policies, the unemployment numbers surpassed the Great Depression, Republicans wanted to keep the economy going and make people work, identity politics endangered lives and divided people. The murder of George Floyd on camera by 4 cops sparked daily Black Lives Matter protests in every state in the nation and countries around the world, peaceful protests turned violent when Trump’s secret police started assaulting, kidnapping, and arresting people. Trump used the military against Americans and ordered them gassed and shot. Russia put a bounty on US troops’ heads and Trump didn’t do anything about it, Trump’s Postmaster General created chaos with the postal system to rig the election, Trump came under criminal investigation for bank and insurance fraud, Steve Bannon was indicted for fraud for conning people into giving money to build Trump’s wall, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died and Trump appointed a new replacement before she was even buried, during a deadly pandemic, one week before the election. Trump announced that he would not relinquish power and was going to contest the election if he lost, the New York Times reported that Trump doesn’t pay taxes. The first presidential debate was a total disaster. Trump caught COVID and was hospitalized. The virus ran through the West Wing and caused a national security crisis because so many people running the government got sick. Trump continued to hold MAGA rallies and got people sick. Joe Biden won the presidential election and Trump refused to concede. He incited a riot on the Capitol on the day that Congress was charged to certify the election on January 6, 2020. He left the presidency alone and in disgrace.
