Trump’s Job Report
The country has a routine now. The days begin with Trump’s outrageous, unpresidential, incompetent, cruel, childish rants on Twitter and then end with him hogging the headlines by playing the part of a president who has risen to the challenge. His only job right now is shooting the Reality TV President show (aka a coronavirus task force briefing.) He’s got the media right where he wants it — focused on him at the same time every day so they’ll report on anything he might say that makes sense as presidential. When they comment on his “new tone” Trump does a fist pump and bites his bottom lip. YES! I’ve fooled them again! He’s got the American people right where he wants them too, forced to have to watch his daily Reality TV bullshit because they’ve got nothing better to do.
Last night’s episode opened with how they were waging an all out war to defeat the horrible, horrible virus. He suggested that people were scarves over their faces when they go out. “Did you know I was number one on Facebook? I just found out.”
He turned it over to Mike Pence and after a reporter asked about what he was doing to help uninsured people, Trump cut Pence off, even though he was doing a fine job of not answering the question. He complimented Pence on the good job he did on blowing off the reporter by saying, “I think that’s one of the greatest answers I’ve ever heard. Because Mike was able to speak for five minutes and not even touch your question. I said that’s what you call a great professional.” Then he answered the reporter’s question by saying they’d get to it. The other side won’t get to it, but we will.
The reporter reminded Trump that the government has been saying it would get to it for 20 years.
Trump is denying uninsured people the chance to get covered by Obamacare by saying no to opening up enrollment so that 30 million can opt in. No, during a national health crisis, Trump is in court trying to repeal the entire Affordable Care Act. If successful, 20 million people will lose their health insurance during a deadly pandemic.
After a journalist asked Dr. Fauci if he has asked for a security detail in case anyone wanted to kill the messenger, Trump took over and talked about what a good basketball player Dr. Fauci used to be even though he was “a little on the short side.”
When Fox News’ John Roberts asked a question Trump didn’t like he said, “What are you, working for CNN?”
After he finished the taping of the Reality TV President, he retired to his bedroom where he did the same thing he did before shooting the episode — nothing. The only thing he’s got on his calendar for today is nothing until he shoots today’s episode of the Reality TV President.
He got up this morning and tweeted: Somebody please explain to Cryin’ Chuck Schumer that we do have a military man in charge of distributing goods, a very talented Admiral, in fact. New York has gotten far more than any other State, including hospitals & a hospital ship, but no matter what, always complaining. It wouldn’t matter if you got ten times what was needed, it would never be good enough. Unlike other states, New York unfortunately got off to a late start. You should have pushed harder. Stop complaining & find out where all of these supplies are going. Cuomo working hard!
And this: Massive amounts of medical supplies, even hospitals and medical centers, are being delivered directly to states and hospitals by the Federal Government. Some have insatiable appetites & are never satisfied (politics?). Remember, we are a backup for them. The complainers should have been stocked up and ready long before this crisis hit. Other states are thrilled with the job we have done. Sending many Ventilators today, with thousands being built. 51 large cargo planes coming in with medical supplies. Prefer sending directly to hospitals.
A new record for the Trump era! 6.6 million people have filed for unemployment, double the amount from last week which was the record for being the largest number ever.
Rush Limbaugh says the economy is being destroyed under the guise of saving lives.
A new 9/11 style commission is in the works to investigate how the government handled the coronavirus before and after the World Health Organization declared it a public health emergency. Gym Jordan says, “Give me a break.”
Undocumented farm workers who the government has been rounding up, tearing away from their families, jailing, and kicking out of the country are now considered “essential workers.”
The confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US is over 200,000. It doubled in 5 days. Over 5,000 people are dead. 1,000 died yesterday. Half of them are in New York. People are dying alone because no one is allowed to be with them in the end. Traditional funerals and burial ceremonies are prohibited. The US government has ordered 100,000 body bags.
“Only in America could 200,000 dead be less of a catastrophe than 30,000 emails” — Ari Berman
