Truth Bombs
The House Energy and Commerce Panel met yesterday and Dr. Rick Bright, a top virus and vaccine specialist (former head of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority,) who dared say no to Trump and was consequently “demoted” (fired) and Mike Owen, VP of Prestige Ameritech, which manufactures N95 masks in Texas, both testified. Both of them have no more fucks to give and pretty much said we’re fucked fucked fucked fucked.
Truth bomb #1 — Even if a coronavirus vaccine is developed, the nation isn’t ready to distribute one in a “fair and equitable” way. No single company will be able to make enough vaccine doses for all the people who need it. The rich and well connected will get it first.
Truth bomb #2 — We have little time left. If we don’t get it together right now the virus will overcome us in significant ways and we will see infection and death rates of catastrophic proportions.
Truth bomb #3 — The reason why the US is having so much trouble carrying through with even the simplest of tasks such as manufacturing swabs is because there was no comprehensive national plan to source these strategic items. There still isn’t.
Truth bomb #4 — We don’t have a single point of leadership right now for this response. Nor do we have a master plan.
Truth bomb #5 — Many of the N95 masks that are being used in US hospitals right now are not manufactured in America and do not meet American standards. They’re inferior quality and provide substantially less protection. Nurses and doctors are using them thinking they’re protected, but they’re not.
Truth bomb #6 — Trump and Pence should be replaced.
Truth bomb #7 — The HHS ignored repeated warnings from the nation’s largest mask manufacturer that there wasn’t enough N95 masks.
Truth bomb #8 — Trump is lying to the American people about there being tests for everyone who wants one. There are not enough tests.
Truth bomb #9 We don’t have nearly enough PPE.

If this was Russia, Dr. Bright would have been dead by the end of the day. The virus is really spreading throughout Russia now. 4 Russian doctors have separately fallen out of windows in just the past week so they can’t tell the truth.
The World Health Organization is warning us that the coronavirus may never go away. Trump is freaking out, not because that means more Americans will get sick and die, but because more Americans getting sick and dying will kill Obama’s economy and spoil his re-election so he’s dodging that truth bomb. 1/3 of the country is going right along with him because they always do. When they get sick they’ll blame Hillary or Obama.
Tribalism has taken hold with the coronavirus pandemic. We’re over here staying home and wearing masks whenever we have to go to the grocery store and you’re over there in the street wearing your MAGA hat and carrying “protest” signs without a mask while truth bombs go off all around you but you’re not phased because ignoring facts and science is what you do. You’ll stick with Trump if it kills you.
Jared Kushner is worried that testing too many people, or ordering too many ventilators, will spook the markets so they just won’t do it. Another truth bomb but people aren’t as shocked as they should be because it happens all the time now and also they’re distracted by all the other truth bombs going off all day every day.
While Bright and Owen were testifying before Congress about how ill prepared we are and how we need more PPE and testing, Trump was in Allentown, Pennsylvania speaking to workers at a PPE distribution facility, bragging about testing. Even though people don’t need it, we have the greatest testing in the world. The US has conducted 10 million tests!!!! (10 million tests is only 3% of the US population.) The reason why the US has more cases than any other country is because of all the testing we’re doing. The more you test, the more cases you find. Get it? But the press doesn’t write about that. “When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing we would have very few cases.” He was supposed to be there as president but it was a state sponsored MAGA rally that fell flat. The workers weren’t impressed. He dissed the press, Joe Biden and social distancing. He threw out some one liners but it didn’t work on this crowd. They know the truth but they didn’t have a choice about being there. Trump said that testing is overrated and that people are always yelling that they want more testing but they won’t give him any credit. He bombed.
Last truth bomb of the day — The CDC guidelines that were shelved by the White House have leaked to the press. Trump is purposefully letting people die.
