US or Them
President Biden made his speech in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia last night, the very place where the final draft of the Constitution was signed and Ben Franklin said afterwards that they had just created “a Republic, if you can keep it” in 1787. The Founding Fathers could have never envisioned a president working with a political party to destroy what they created. The Civil War has always been the worst time in our nation’s history because half of the country wanted to break away and form its own country. What we’re going through now is worse than that because members of Congress conspired with the president to destroy the country.
Biden called Trump out by name in his speech. He called MAGA Republicans out. He called Lindsey Graham out too, but not by name. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic.” He acknowledged that what we’re going through is not normal. “Equality and Democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.” He emphasized that America’s survival is not guaranteed and everybody has to do their part to protect it. Pick a side. Are you pro-democracy or against it? Are you pro-Constitution or against it? Do you want to preserve our rights and freedoms or toss them? The MAGA Republicans are a threat to each of us and the country. Vote! He closed his speech with, “If we do our duty, in 2022 and beyond, then ages still to come will say, we — all of us here — we kept the faith, we preserved democracy.”
What Biden did by making this speech was move the fate of democracy out in front and make it the most important issue of our time. He made the distinction between Trumpist extremism and regular Republicans (although some would argue that only two, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, are regular Republicans) and accused the MAGA Republicans of wanting to destroy the great American experiment. He challenged Americans to fight for their own freedom.
People could hear MAGAs nearby with a bullhorn yelling “Fuck Joe Biden!” while Biden was speaking. They made his point for him. He acknowledged them and said they had a right to do it but faulted them for not having any manners. Trump would have called for them to be beaten and jailed.
Hours before Biden’s speech, Trump promised that he would pardon everybody who got arrested for attacking the Capitol, if elected.
The repugs broke their silence for the first time since the news broke that the FBI was investigating Trump for espionage and giving our nation’s secrets to our enemies. They have decided to walk the plank with Trump. Kevin McCarthy made a speech of his own ahead of Biden’s speech expressing his outrage. “Joe Biden and the DOJ launched a raid on the home of Donald Trump. That is an assault on democracy!” He wants Biden to apologize for calling them “fascists” and accused him of not understanding the soul of America. He proclaimed defiantly, “The electric cord of liberty still sparks in our hearts!” More like the electric chair of liberty will spark in their hearts. That’s what happened to Ethel and Julius Rosenberg as punishment for espionage in 1953. They gave our secrets to the Soviet Union. Stephen Miller the Jewish Nazi went on Fox after the speech and said, “President Trump poured out his heart and his soul everyday to build a better America. President Biden gave the speech of a dictator.”
Former member of the Trump administration, Monica Crowley, criticized how Biden’s speech looked on Fox. “The imagery was almost satanic with that blood red lighting and the two marines.” Satan always gives the MAGA Republicans away.
MAGA Republicans are blaming Biden for the division in the country. He’s calling us names. He said he wanted to unite the country and now he’s pointing fingers!
Grand Daddy of the MAGA Republicans, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, is in a heap of trouble for being part of the fake electors scheme. The Select Committee has emails that he sent to and received from MAGA Republicans before and after the attack on the Capitol, including White House lawyers Pat Cipollone and Pat Philbin. He encouraged them to “arouse the country’s anger” with TV ads after the 2020 election to promote the Big Lie. The Select Committee wants his testimony.
Pat Cipollone and Pat Philbin are expected to appear before a grand jury today to testify about what they know about the events surrounding January 6.
Texas attorney Kellye Sorelle has been arrested for conspiracy and obstruction. She was indicted on 4 charges in connection with the January 6 attack. She was supposed to be cooperating with the feds after Stewart Rhodes was arrested, giving up information on Roger Stone, Alex Jones, and Mark Meadows. She was the acting head of the Oath Keepers and the organization’s general counsel.
Former NYPD officer Thomas Webster received the longest sentence to date for his part in the insurrection — 10 years.
Ginni Thomas not only emailed 29 lawmakers in Arizona to tell them to go through with the fake electors scheme, she emailed 2 in Wisconsin too.
Lindsey Graham has been told by a judge, once again, that he can’t get out of testifying before the grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia about Trump asking Georgia to throw votes out to help him win.
Joe Biden has drawn a line in the sand and defined the narrative for the midterm election and the Democrats are united in taking on “Trumpism.” What’s it going to be? US or them?
