We Sacrifice Children for the Second Amendment
7 people were shot dead in another school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee and Republicans are STILL proudly wearing AR-15 pins. Andrew Clyde was spotted wearing one on his tie. He’s the guy that is on security video scared shitless, trying to barricade the House chambers as rioters were trying to bust through to kill him and whoever else they could find. He was terrified. After it was all over he said it was just a bunch of tourists. Andrew Clyde is one of the traitors holding the House hostage.
After the shooting, Senate Minority Whip John Thune, Republican from South Dakota, said that any discussion on gun legislation would be “premature,” even though a majority of voters support reforms. CNN’s Manu Raju pointed out, “130 mass shootings just this year alone.” Thune was nonchalant about it, just like he has been since Sandy Hook because the NRA has given him an A+ rating and $639,000.
The other US Senator from South Dakota, Republican Senator Mike Rounds, really wants people to stop asking when Congress is going to do anything about gun control. “I think the things that have already been done have gone about as far as we’re going to with gun control.” Like the other senator from South Dakota, he has an A+ rating from the NRA. They have given him $100,550.
Tennessee’s Republican governor, Bill Lee, just wants prayers. He won’t do anything more than that because he is as pro-gun as any Republican governor could ever be. He does not support restricting firearms or strengthening gun control laws. In 2021, he signed a bill that allowed people to openly carry handguns without permits. He proudly thanked the National Rifle Association “for helping get this done” and let Tennesseans know that “they can now exercise their Second Amendment rights.” They’re working on legislation to allow 18 year olds to carry any kind of gun they want, including the AR-15.
Since 2020, Tennessee has been in the top 10 deadliest states in the country for firearms.
Bill Lee had two close friends who were killed in this shooting. One of them was expected to go to his house for dinner that night. Because he’s so loose on guns, he may have gotten his friend killed. He had the power to make guns harder to get and use, but instead he did the exact opposite. He is responsible for helping to create the circumstances that allowed the shooting to happen. And now that the gun violence epidemic has literally hit home for him, and he’s partially responsible for it, he’s going to pray to Republican Jesus and do whatever he can to avoid culpability.
Bill Lee fun fact: He has always believed that gun laws are a separate issue while discussing school safety.
Hallie Scruggs, one of three children who was shot and killed, was the 9 year old child of Chad Scruggs, the senior pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Mike Hill, the school custodian who was shot and killed at Covenant School, leaves behind eight children.
Two years ago Republicans in Tennessee shot down red flag legislation that would have given friends and family power to notify law enforcement if they suspected the shooter was going to do something horrible with a gun. Instead, they’ve been spending their time making laws that discriminate against the very small LGBTQ community.
Biden is frustrated because his hands are tied. All he can do is plead with Congress but there are too many Republicans who believe that kids should be sacrificed for the Second Amendment.
After the Parkland shooting, retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens said the Second Amendment should be appealed.
Former Chief Justice Warren Burger, a real conservative, said in 1991 (before the mass shooting epidemic) that the idea that there was an individual right to bear arms was “a fraud.” If he could write the Bill of Rights “there wouldn’t be any such thing as the Second Amendment. It has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime.” That was 32 years ago.
Democrats are ready to go on getting gun legislation passed. They have been ready for decades.
The “Put God Back in Schools” crowd must be mystified that a shooter would target a private Christian school.
Marjorie Taylor Greene got her Twitter account suspended again after she tweeted after the school shooting: “After 3000 RTs of this tweet, my account was suspended AGAIN. Why is Twitter whitewashing the ‘Trans Day of Vengeance,’ @elonmusk? A day after a mass murder of children by a trans shooter? The people need to know about the threat they face from Antifa & trans-terrorism!!!”
The followers of Republican Jesus are giddy that the shooter was trans for that’s what will be their focus. Republican Jesus carries an AR-15, is blonde and blue eyed (even though he was born and raised in the middle east) and is Hollywood handsome. He’s definitely straight and saving his virginity for when he gets married and he hates all the same people they do.
Life was already really hard for trans people before Republicans came along and saw an opportunity to exploit them so they put targets on their backs and highlighted a few trans people for political gain. Now people are coming after them with Republican Jesus and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Congressman Jamaal Bowman from New York took his colleagues to church a few weeks ago by defending the trans community in a meeting. He asked them, “Why can’t we leave trans people alone? Let them be who they are. They’re not bothering anyone. They want to live their lives. They are contributing members of society. Why are the Republicans so uncomfortable with this? We have an ugly history of discrimination in this country. Of people who are different — Black, Latino, Asian, LGBTQ, poor, disabled, women. Now trans are targets. They’re not bothering anybody. Let them live their lives. Who are we as Americans and members of the human race to be so uncomfortable with people who are so different from us?
This is Jamaal Bowman’s second term as a member of Congress. He’s Black, a liberal Democrat, and a former teacher. He would worry every day about a shooter coming into his class. The fear is real for Jamaal Bowman and most of the country. It’s not real for Republicans. They don’t feel a thing.
