Welcome to Texas
The Roe v Wade reversal has already impacted women in one day. Abortions that were scheduled for yesterday had to be cancelled.
People are slowly waking up to what Texas and the Supreme Court are doing and they’re also waking up to how they’re doing it — quietly, secretly, and in the middle of the night. As the news started to spread and sink in, more and more people got red hot mad, not only because Republicans have made good on their promise to end Roe v Wade, but that they did it in the dead of the night.
Republicans weren’t out in front of the cameras jumping up and down bragging about their victory yesterday. They’ve spent decades massaging this wedge issue with their base and chipping away at abortion rights at the state level. They all ran for cover when their big moment arrived. Mitch McConnell brushed it off when asked about it. Camera whore Ted Cruz didn’t go on Fox News to brag, he had a spokesperson say a few scripted words. Fox News didn’t even give it a minute of their time.
Roe v Wade started in Texas in 1973 and it has ended in Texas in 2021. It began when Norma McCorvey (AKA “Jane Roe”) became pregnant with her third child in Texas. She wanted an abortion but it was illegal in Texas (except in cases where the mother’s life was at stake.) She sued her local district attorney in federal court on the grounds that the government keeping her from getting an abortion was against her constitutional rights. She won and then Texas took it to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled that a pregnant woman should be able to choose to end a pregnancy without excessive government restriction, striking down many US federal and state abortion laws. 48 years later the Supreme Court said, without actually saying it, that the government has the right to take away a woman’s constitutional right to not be pregnant if she doesn’t want to. This happened because the court has been radicalized with very conservative, radical Catholic, anti-abortion justices, put there by a political party that has been manipulating voters with this divisive social issue for decades.
On March 9, 2021, Republican Texas legislator, Bryan Slaton introduced a bill imposing the death penalty on women who have abortions.
While the Judicial Branch is overtaken by extreme religious views, the Executive Branch has come out publicly against what the court has done and reiterated its support for a woman’s constitutional right to decide how many children she will bear. President Joe Biden, a Catholic who is personally against abortion himself but doesn’t use his power to impose his religious views on the entire country, stands by Roe v Wade. Vice President Kamala Harris issued a formal, brief statement that basically said OH NO YOU DON’T. The Legislative Branch is going to take this up as soon as it is back in session. Nancy Pelosi, a Catholic mother of 5, is PISSED. This will be at the top of the agenda when summer recess is over.
Remember when Trump said that women should be punished if they had an abortion? Investigative journalists should dig around and find out how many abortions he has paid for. While they’re at it, find out which Republicans in Texas who voted for this new abortion law have paid for abortions.
For all of their ranting about Democrats being communists, Republicans deputizing their base to spy on their neighbors and family members on behalf of the government is straight up communism.
Pissed off people crashed Texas’s Abortion Gestapo website (prolifewhistleblower.com) by bombarding it with bogus “tips” so they had to take the online form down. Now all you see on the homepage is text about SB8, the Texas Heartbeat Act, and a creepy, eerie photo of an empty hospital gurney in a room where an abortion is about to be performed.
Where is the other half of the baby making machine in all of this? “He” bears no responsibility in any unwanted pregnancies. It’s all “her” fault. If this barbaric law against women stands then men who impregnate women that end in abortion should get their balls cut off. Make laws that restrict men’s wiener usage to procreation only. A man who gets caught wasting sperm by masturbating should have to get a “M” tattooed to their foreheads so everybody knows he’s a masturbator.
Republicans are forcing battered women to bear their abuser’s child while protecting the batterer’s right to own as many guns as he wants to, even if he has a domestic violence record.
The penalty for abortion is worse than the penalty for rape in Texas.
The penalty for giving a woman a ride to get an abortion is worse than buying a gun for a known criminal who then uses it to kill the woman who got the abortion in Texas.
The people raising their fists over “killing babies” feel nothing for the dead children who have died from covid. The people raising their fists at the government for mandating that they do their part to protect public health care nothing for the women who are victims of the government of Texas’s law controlling her sex and family life.
One of the many anti-vax conspiracy theories out there is that vaccines cause gender confusion because vaccines could contain DNA from aborted babies.
Abortion isn’t about life. It’s about power.
