Pete Hegseth, the DUI hire that got the top job at the Pentagon, missed the part about SCIF training, the top secret room where the most sensitive information is exchanged, and opted to text war plans on an unsecure, unapproved phone app regarding bombing Yemen.
Trump’s national security adviser accidentally added a journalist from The Atlantic to the text chat which featured highly sensitive military operations including precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing. The chat detailed plans and other likely highly classified information about US military strikes on the Signal messaging app. Those in the chat included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J.D. Vance, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Policy Director Stephen Miller, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Jeffrey Goldberg, the Senior Editor of The Atlantic.
None of Trump’s dipshits noticed a member of the press was in on the chat. They joked around and used emojis. J.D. Vance didn’t want to bail Europe out “again” and Pete Hegseth said the messaging had to be “Biden failed.”
Jeffrey Goldberg knew about the bombing two hours in advance. He thought it was fake at first because COME ON. He said, “It should go without saying — but I’ll say it anyway — that I have never been invited to a White House principals-committee meeting, and that, in my many years of reporting on national-security matters, I had never heard of one being convened over a commercial messaging app” and “the information contained in them, if they had been read by an adversary of the United States, could conceivably have been used to harm American military and intelligence personnel, particularly in the broader Middle East, Central Command’s area of responsibility. What I will say, in order to illustrate the shocking recklessness of this Signal conversation, is that the Hegseth post contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing.”
Hats off to Jeffrey Goldberg for not holding on to this for two years until he could cash in on it and write a book.
Republicans spent YEARS trashing Hillary Clinton over using an unsecure server to email official state business. They called for firings, accountability, and criminal charges and now here we are with actual texts that the whole world now knows about, all unsecured, about actual national security business, warfare no less, and nothing will happen. The Republicans are scurrying to defend their own. If this had happened with another administration there would be hell to pay, as there should be, but there won’t be any hell to pay in this instance because we’re already in hell.
“You have got to be kidding me.” — Hillary Clinton
“Lock her up!” — MAGA
Shout out to Jeffrey Goldberg for not holding on to this until he can write a book.
When asked about the breach Trump said, “I don’t know anything about it. I’m not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me, it’s a magazine that’s going out of business. I think it’s not much of a magazine. But I know nothing about it. You’re saying that they had what?” He’s lying of course but if he wasn’t and really didn’t know anything about it that would be another major concern. The president isn’t in on bombing another country?
“Nobody is texting war plans” is what Pete Hegseth said when asked about it. He brushed it off as another fake news debacle.
The greatest threat to our national security today is the people in charge of national security.
Pete Buttigieg was so disgusted he used the f word.
Now Canada and Greenland will know when we plan on invading them.
Vance’s wife is going to Greenland to strengthen our partnership. Greenland doesn’t want her there.
