Dust in the Wind

Finally! Some good news! Rush Limbaugh is DEAD! The father of hate speech and washer of brains is finally QUIET. The man was so awful that he had a regular radio segment where he’d read the names of gay people who died of AIDS to the tune of Dionne Warwick’s “I’ll Never Love This Way Again.” He went deaf from his addiction to oxycontin even though his on air persona was anti-drug and preached that “addicts are weak and deserve to go to jail,” he had 4 wives, made fun of rape survivors, and relentlessly made fun of 12 year old Chelsea Clinton. He called President Obama “Barack the Magic Negro.” Rush Limbaugh’s legacy is normalizing racism, homophobia, misogyny and radical right extremism. He got filthy rich off of hate speech and was a horrible, horrible person. Half of the country is celebrating his death and the other half is mourning. Republicans are more upset about Limbaugh dying than they are about a cop getting killed protecting them during the attack on the Capitol a month ago. If he had never lived, we’d have fewer emboldened self righteous, lazy, gullible, dumb, mean people to content with. If he had never lived there would have never been Fox News, Alex Jones, Breitbert, or Trump. All of the cruel, crude, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynist conservative cable and internet talking heads came after Rush. He sired them all.

Most decent people strive to leave the world better than they found it when they die. Rush Limbaugh spent his life making the world worse. Most decent people were really happy he died and wished it would have happened 30 years ago. One of the most decent US senators, Al Franken, was forced out of office for stuff he did as a professional comedian long before he was an elected official but because he’s so decent and a feminist, he felt guilty that any woman would be offended by his actions, so he resigned. He wrote a book about Rush Limbaugh 25 years ago. He called it, “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations.” Al had his own radio show too and it was much, much better than Rush’s.

The big fat idiot is dead.

On the same day that the big fat idiot died, the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City was demolished with 3,000 pieces of dynamite. The 34 story building on the New Jersey shore that Trump bankrupted and has been sitting empty since 2014 is now rubble and dust. Rush Limbaugh and Trump’s Taj Mahal are now dust in the wind. Yesterday was a good day for poets….so many metaphors and so much time because we’re all still stuck inside, bored in the house because the deadly Trump Plague pandemic is still raging.

We hit half a million dead from the Trump Plague. 600,000 people die from cancer each year.

If Texans get sick with covid, they’re not going to be able to take very good care of themselves without heat, running water, or food. If they get really sick, they’re going to have a really hard time getting to a hospital. It’s so bad in Texas right now that even QAnon weirdos, Dittoheads, and MAGAts who all voted for this shit are getting thoughts and prayers.

Another ice storm is headed for Texas. It’s not expected to hit 60 degrees for 4 more days. Power outages are expected to last at least another week. Since the privately owned power company isn’t making any money during the power outage, they’re going to raise their rates once it goes back on because that’s what you get when you don’t have government regulation.

9,000 prisoners in the downtown Harris County Jail in Houston are stuck in cells with no running water or flushable toilets. The stench is unbearable. Many of them have been sitting in jail for minor offenses because they can’t afford bail.

Even the hard core anti-government survivalists have been left out in the cold in Texas. All of their doomsday preparations haven’t gone the way they thought they would. The only thing they’ve got is their guns and there’s nobody to shoot.

Former Texas governor Rick Perry told Texans to pull themselves up by their frozen boot straps. Going days without power is a sacrifice Texans must be willing to make if it means keeping federal regulators out of their business. What’s a few blackouts during freezing cold temperatures when you can live free or die? Rick Perry was the governor of Texas in 2002 and presided over the deregulation of the Texas power grid. Trump made him his Department of Energy Secretary.

The mayor of Colorado City, Texas, Tim Boyd, ranted on Facebook and told people they were on their own — only the fittest will survive. Power and water are not rights. Like health care, proper housing, clean water and transportation, they are privileges, not rights. Nobody owes you anything! Get over it! After his long rant, he quit.

One of Texas’s senators, Ted Cruz, abandoned the people of his state during a deadly winter storm to fly his family to Cancun, Mexico during a pandemic when non-essential travel is a risky thing. It’s a shitty thing to do but he’s confident that he’ll suffer no political consequences because after all, he incited an insurrection on the US government and nothing happened to him. Once he got to his resort, he tweeted out something nice about Rush Limbaugh.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has mandated that suppliers not sell any natural gas outside of the state until Sunday. Now wait a minute. Isn’t that government over reach? Should a governor be able to tell a private business who they can and cannot sell to?

Oh well. That government over reach thing is just dust in the wind.
