Fight For The World

The Select Committee has entered a new court filing saying that it has concluded that Trump and his campaign tried to obstruct Congress and “engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371.” This is big. A congressional committee has legally accused a president in court of committing felonies. They’ve got evidence. Not only did they find that Trump used the system to delay the certification of the election, but they also found that the conspiracy extended to rioters who attacked the Capitol. This lays the groundwork for Trump to possibly face the same criminal charge that federal prosecutors have used against more than 240 insurrectionists. The committee doesn’t have the power to bring charges, but they can make a referral to the Justice Department.

One of the idiot insurrectionist who got arrested for trying to take over the government was Annie Howell, 31, from Pennsylvania. She’s going to jail for 60 days, will be on probation for 3 years, and could lose custody of her son. She feels “betrayed” by the congressman, senators, and Trump advisers who egged her on and promised her a job in the White House if she’d join the insurrection.

The attorney client privilege between Trump and John Eastman can’t be used as a defense anymore because they were both involved in a crime.

Roger Stone’s Oath Keeper bodyguard, Joshua James, pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy and obstructing an official proceeding. He is facing 7–9 years in prison. It would be more if he wasn’t cooperating with the feds. This guilty plea means the attack on the Capitol can officially be called sedition. He signed a plea deal that read, “(Stewart) Rhodes instructed James and conspirators to be prepared, if called upon, to report to the White House grounds to secure the perimeter and use lethal force if necessary, against anyone who tried to remove President Trump.” James met with Roger Stone the morning of the attack.

In Texas, Republican Van Taylor dropped his re-election bid for Congress after admitting he was having an affair. Having an affair is not news, especially for Republicans. What makes this news is that he resigned because his mistress was the widow of an ISIS member. Republicans are already in bed with terrorists so why resign? That could actually help his campaign! Another Republican in Texas made news when he campaigned at the University of North Texas. Candidate for the Texas House, Jeff Younger, went there hoping to win over college students with his anti-trans message which is so popular with Texas Republicans these days. It didn’t go well. Students banged on their desks in unison and chanted “Fucking fascist!” Jeff Younger’s daughter is trans but he refuses to recognize her as a “trans” person. He lost custody of her. Speaking of Republicans, trans people and Texas, Governor Greg Abbott won his primary for re-election partially because he used his official power as head of state to create legislation targeting less than 1% of the population (trans people) to use as a campaign issue.

Speaking of evil Republican governors, Ron DeSantis of Florida tried to dodge answering a question from a reporter about what he thought of the State of the Union speech. He blurted out, “I agree, if you think about what they’ve done, Fauci is in the witness protection program now.” What the hell did he say? Is Dr. Fauci the new Hillary’s emails? Before he spoke at a workforce event, he yelled at the high school students behind him to take off their masks. That didn’t go well with parents he supposedly wants to have all the power to make decisions about masks and school curriculum. Those kids’ parents aren’t the kind that storm school board meetings and threaten to shoot people. Their kids wear masks because they do.

While other governors pull investments out of Russia from their states, Ron DeSantis refuses to divest $300 million in Russian investments from Florida. The Russian mafia is in Florida.

The war in Ukraine rages on. Only five nations — Russia, Belarus, Syria, Eritrea and North Korea voted against a UN General Assembly resolution demanding that Russia stop its war on Ukraine and withdraw all troops.

Meanwhile in the US, House Republicans Paul Gosar, Matt Rosendale, and Thomas Massie voted no on a resolution supporting the people of Ukraine.

As Russia’s cyber attack and its information war on the US is made clearer through the findings put out by the Select Committee and the prosecutions of American citizens who were duped into attacking their own government, more and more people will come to understand not just how close we came to losing our democracy, but how Ukraine and the US are linked. Russia attacked both in its quest for world domination and the annihilation of democracies around the world. What has been going on in the US for 5 years and what’s going on in Ukraine right now is showing the world that democracy is precious and fragile and must be protected. Ukrainians are willing to literally die to save their democracy. The least Americans can do is show up and vote for theirs.

President Zelensky is standing up to Putin and the entire Russian military.

All but 3 Republicans are standing up to Trump.

Ukrainians aren’t just fighting for themselves they’re fighting for the whole free world.
