Ketanji Brown Jackson Confirmation Hearing Day 3 — You Are Worthy
Marsha Blackburn doesn’t know the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and neither do most of the other idiot senators who insulted Ketanji Brown Jackson on the third day of her confirmation hearing. Republicans were really aggressive and obnoxious which is nothing new — just more of the same, only grosser. They interrupted her, bullied her, and yelled at her about things that had nothing to do with her, all in an attempt to play to their QAnon and Fox News base. The shit show went on for half of the day. They embarrassed themselves, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. Throwing red meat to their base on camera was their only aim.
Ben Sasse used his time to separate himself from the brutes but the truth is, he always votes with them. He voted for Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. He’s doing the exact same thing as the other repugs — playing to the camera by putting himself out there as one of the good guys. If he doesn’t vote for her, the “good kind of Republican” is just somebody he plays on TV.
Cory Booker put them all in their place with another inspirational pep talk which made the good guys cry.
The Asshole of the Day award went to Ted Cruz. A photographer snapped a picture of Ted searching his own name on Twitter after he made an ass of himself, hoping to find himself trending on social media. He landed the audition and got an interview with Fox so he’s the winner. Lindsey Graham came in second. He used Ketanji Brown Jackson to get back at Democrats, Christine Blasey Ford, and the public for protesting Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination and confirmation. “He was ambushed! How would you feel if we did that to you?” He did do that to her. He screamed so hard he spit at her.
They all basically spit at her. She just sat there and let it roll right off of her like she has her entire life. She’s very good at it. She didn’t lose her cool like Kavanaugh did. Quite the contrary. To get to where she is now, she has had to be twice as smart as they are, twice as accomplished as they are, and way cooler than they are. She has had to be perfect because she is a Black woman. She, like all Black women in college and the courtroom, get up every morning and get themselves ready to enter spaces where they are not well represented or seen as even being worthy of being there. She not only has to keep her cool but she has to work even harder than everybody else. She has to constantly prove that she belongs and that she is worthy. And on top of that, she must do it with a smile on her face, at all times. There is a lot of pressure on her right now, not only for herself and her own career, but for all of the women coming up behind her for she is the first. She has to prevail for all of the little Black girls who need more role models like her. She has to prevail to honor those who suffered and died so she can even be there. More specifically, she must perform well or else it could hurt other Black female lawyers and future lawyers. She has to prevail. She deals with racism AND sexism every day so this isn’t a shock. She came prepared for the disrespect and unprofessionalism that she’s endured the past three days. She knew it would happen, so she has kept her cool. On the contrary, the white male Republicans who are spitting all over her didn’t have to work very hard to get to where they are. They were all born on third base and if they didn’t make it home because of their race, sex, wealth and connections, they just stole home base.
